How It Works

When the trigger is released, the circuit is broken and no electricity flows to the motor. When the trigger is depressed, the circuit is complete, and electricity flows from the battery to the motor.
The motor turns the gears, which then draw back the spring. When the spring is fully drawn back, it is released, pushing the piston forward and compressing the air inside it. The compressed air shoots out the front of the piston and propels the BB out of the barrel. This entire process takes place in a second or less, thus giving electric airsoft guns a high rate of fire.

Unlike spring airsoft guns, however, electric airsoft guns are limited by the electrical capacity of the battery. When the battery runs out of power, the gun simply ceases to function. Whereas with spring airsoft guns, you can keep firing as long as you have enough BBs and strength in your arms. Having electrical components also makes electric airsoft rifles more susceptible to the elements, and moisture has a much greater effect on electric guns than on spring-operated guns. Finally, the motor and battery add weight to the gun, and although the added weight is generally small, during a long game in the field you will undoubtedly feel even the slightest change in weight.
