Leisure Valley is one of the prominent weekend destinations for not only the people of Gurgaon but also for the people coming from nearby Delhi. Located in the state of Haryana, Gurgaon is a vastly growing metropolis and often referred to as the ‘Millenium City’. One of the suburbs or satellite cities of the National Capital Region, Gurgaon along with the Faridabad, Ghaziabad and Noida, are important industrial, residential, commercial technological and financial centres. Gurgaon is all about multi-storey apartment buildings and hi-tech glass covered office buildings. Bored with the fast paced life, people of Gurgaon yearn for a open spaces and greenery. And the answer to all this lies in a small patch of greenery right in the center of Gurgaon. Aptly known as the Leisure Valley, this huge park is located in Sector 29 in Gurgaon. If one has to rejuvenate oneself from all the everyday hectic schedules and fast moving pace of life, Leisure Valley is a place one has to head to. Here one can spend some quality time with family and friends. Known for the clean and fresh air, Leisure Valley is spread over an area of 25 acre and has different areas for different activities. The assortment of water jets and musical fountains come to life in the evenings with fresh splashes of water and the illumination accompanied by the tunes of some of the latest film songs. Apart from the fountains, Leisure Valley has a jogger’s track, rose garden, children’s park, Japanese garden, bird’s corner, lover’s spot, and other features. It is not an uncommon sight to find many health enthusiasts jogging along the jogger’s path at the Leisure valley. Another attraction is the birds’ corner where boards are put up giving information on all the commonly spotted birds that come to visit the park. The lover’s spot, smartly secluded from the other parts, has many cosy benches and small artificial brooks that add beauty to the already romantic settings. The rose garden is for all seasons and the gardeners take utmost care to prune the terraced gardens and colourful flower beds. Another attraction and the most crowded place is the children’s park with all its recreational rides for both children and adults such as merry-go-rounds, mini giant wheels, swings, slides and other fun and activity oriented props. The Japanese garden, one of the latest additions to Leisure Valley, has many murals and stone statues with a Japanese style pagoda cover. The entry gates of Leisure Valley are lined with fast food vendors, chat corners and ice cream stalls. The Leisure Valley has given the much needed breathing space to many of the residents of Gurgaon and is an attraction for both the young and the old alike.
