Located on the stunning northeastern coast of Spain, right on the Mediterranean Sea, lies the sun-filled town of Lloret de Mar. As one of the most popular seaside areas in Spain, it's easy to access from the UK. Simply hop on a short flight then book your transfer from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar for a getaway. The Costa Brava is a stunning coast of Spain that beckons visitors with miles of beautiful beaches and crystal clear waters that edge up to the shore in soft waves. Going from the cities, like Barcelona, to Lloret de Mar is not a new phenomenon. It has long been a popular holiday destination and there are even historical remains of Iberian and Roman origin near the town; it has been mentioned in documents as early as 996 A.D. Though the history is an important aspect of any culture and can give visitors a greater insight into the towns they visit, the real drawing point of the region is the beaches. With a choice of over 10 beaches and coves in the town, you will not be at a loss when it comes to finding one with a mood that suits yours for the day! Bigger, busier beaches On a trip that takes you from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar, you will be unable to avoid the town’s longest and most popular beach, Lloret Beach. With almost one and a half kilometres of white sandy stretches, this is where you go to see, be seen, enjoy the sunshine and take part in the large variety of water sports. If you have trouble finding a place on this beach in the high, summer season, then go to one of the many bars that surround it, sit in the shade and wait for an opportunity to arise for a prime lounging location. After dark, this is also one of the best places to go to experience the town’s nightlife. If you want to be close to the centre of town but don’t want to feel overshadowed, head to the beach that is just up from the main one but is much quieter and generally more relaxing - the Platja de Fenals. Here, the 700-metre stretch of sand arcs gently and it is a perfect place to take your family or find some quieter time for yourself. Smaller, often quieter beaches If you want to get away from the main beaches, but still want to stay within a very short distance of the comforts and nightlife of the town, then consider going to one of the smaller beaches that are tucked away outwith the two main stretches. Below the castle and next to the main beach is Sa Caleta Cove. This is a delightful fisherman’s cove with small boats congregated on the shoreline and has a feeling of being in a village. Between the two large hills that shelter it from the wind and ensure calm waters, St Cristina Beach is reached via the chapel of the same name. The small beach opens up from the shaded path and mingles the sounds of birds with the soft ocean waves. It is a perfect place to snorkel and relax. Caynelles Beach is the furthest away from the main part of town and heading to this beach after your trip from Barcelona to Lloret de Mar will transport you to what feels like another place entirely.
