There are four intertwined verses from psalm 37 where if looked on as a whole speak of new hope for help and answers from the Lord that will hold and that you can hold on to. 3] Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. [4] Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. [5] Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass. [6] And he shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday All these four verses tie together. The verse that caps as a group or individually the verse 3, 4 and 5 is verse 6. From verse 3, you will dwell in the land and in the light mentioned in verse 6. From verse 4 you will be given the desires of your heart but also the desires of your heart will bring forth like the noonday. From verse 5, he shall bring it to pass. But again verse 6 shows that this can be brought to the highest mode and potentiality, the noonday sun is the highest point of the day. The favorable judgement is like the noonday, in that the blessing is extended into a full bloom, the greatest heights of blessing. So these verses are that much more powerful, not only will you get your hearts desire, it will be to the maximum of your hearts desire, brought forth in full light to the noonday. Not only will the Lord bring it to pass, he will bring it all the way to the heights of the day, symbolically this can be also an extended blessings, blessings brought to the heights of time, place and extended maybe for years upon years into into future generations. It is interesting that your heart’s desires can be so hidden that you cannot even see them, but the bloom of the noonday sun takes these desires and brings them all the way across into the light of ages. On your part, these verses talk about trusting in the Lord, committing your ways and how you approach things to him, delighting in the Lord and it again mentions trust. It is exciting that the unfolding of your heart’s desires can come into the full light of the noonday and this means that it would unfold fully and into the highest realities, nothing is partial or hidden about this. There is a full immersion into trust, delight and commitment, and the corresponding wholeness to the blessings that are found. And of course we do see in these verses, the admonition to do good. So if you are veering from that path, you might also be veering from the blessings that would have been there had you not gone astray. These verses give hope in the completeness and substantial blessings that can come about in the context of a relationship with the Lord, as the words used in these verses, such as commitment, trust and delight all refer to qualities of a relationship. It is proper then to put greater hopes in prayer, for yourself and others, for small issues and large issues, that your hearts’ desires, which may not only be for yourself but for the wider world, can unfold into the stark reality of the noonday sun, not hidden in the dark of night but substantiated to the fullest and brightest.
