Your car's carpet is most likely one of the dirtiest places in your car. After a long winter the salt that gets brought into your car can leave salt stains behind on your carpet. You can clean your cars carpets easily with some vinegar. |
Just think about how much dirt and grime gets tracked in every time you enter the car, especially during the winter months. Stains can develop and make your cars carpet looking filthy. Fortunately, car carpet is not difficult to clean. Learn here how to do it properly.
To clean your cars carpets get your vacuum cleaner out and vacuum your cars carpets well to get up all of the dirt and sand that is stuck in them. Try to get the vacuum to suck up all of the deep down sand and dirt that is stuck in the bottom of the cars carpets. The only way to get out the trapped sand in the cars carpet is a good vacuuming or a good shaking of your cars mats.
After you have vacuumed up the cars carpets well you can wash them. Get a bucket of warm water and add as much vinegar into the bucket as you have warm water in the bucket. Take a sponge and soak it in the vinegar water until it is saturated. Take the saturated sponge and rub it into the stains in the cars carpet. Make sure you get the stains in the cars carpet saturated with the vinegar and warm water solution. Then let the solution soak in the carpet for a few minutes.
After the vinegar and warm water have soaked in the carpet for a few minutes take an absorbent cloth like a towel or a paper towel and soak up as much of the vinegar and water as you can. If the cars carpets are now clean let them completely dry.
The most effective type of cleaner for car carpet is a foam cleaner, which can be found in most auto stores. Regular household carpet cleaner also works for small stains. If you don't have carpet cleaner, mix 1/4 cup vinegar and 1 tsp. dish detergent with hot water in a spray bottle.
Carpet cleaners not only removes the stains but also restores the original color and the softness and the plush feeling of the fabric. Use a carpet cleaner that is also an odor neutralizer. The two-in-one carpet cleaners help to replace the musty smell with a good fragrance. Time Frame
Spot-cleaning your carpet will take anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes. A full deep-clean will take about 24 hours to clean and dry thoroughly.
Before applying carpet cleaner, remove the floor mats and vacuum the carpet thoroughly. To remove foul odors, sprinkle the carpet with 20 Mule Team Borax and allow it to sit for an hour before vacuuming (see Resources).
Spray carpet cleaner evenly onto the carpet. Rub vigorously and then wipe with a dry cloth. For spot stains, spray cleaning solution directly onto stain and work it in with a hard-bristled brush, then blot dry.
Do not soak the carpet, as this could cause mold to grow. If possible, leave windows down and allow carpet to dry for 24 hours.
