If you are new to network marketing, these tips probably won't help you. After all, you are still learning the business. However, if you've been in the business for awhile, and you're looking for a competitive edge, then here are eight ways to do it. 1. Know your goals and objectives when attending networking meetings. If you're not careful, these meetings can turn into cheerleading sessions. They pump you up, but they really do nothing to help you build your business. Know why you are attending these meetings and stay focused. Make sure you take the appropriate action to get the most from these meetings and stick to your plan. 2. Avoid asking yes or no questions. Yes or no questions will not help you learn what you need to know. Ask questions that tell you the who, what, when, where, and why. If you still don't understand, ask additional questions. This is especially important if you are giving a presentation to a potential customer or downline member. This will help you meet their needs, formulate the appropriate solutions to help them, and then, if necessary, close the sale. 3. Become a resource, especially for your downline and referrals. The more you know about your products and the industry you are in, the more valuable you are. Then you can answer questions and help your downline and referrals get the information they need. It also allows you to create the appropriate pitches in order to connect with your audiences and increase your conversions. 4. When presenting your opportunity, make sure you are prepared. This may mean creating the appropriate script to present your opportunity, or having the knowledge to answer any questions you may receive. If you are already a resource, and you have been constantly adding to your storehouse of your knowledge, you don't have to worry about this. You will know what you need to say. 5. Stay abreast of current affairs. If breaking the ice is difficult for you, having knowledge of current affairs may help you. However, be careful that you don't discuss something like politics, which can be too controversial. Best to stick to industry news and use this as an introduction. 6. Share your business card. Make it a habit to give out your business cards. Just don't give it out too soon. At the beginning of a meeting is a bad idea. Best to give it out after you have talked to the person for awhile, or better, at the end of the meeting. 7. Phone or email new contacts. By contacting your new referrals and new members, it will go a long way to keeping them motivated and in your organization. It also makes the whole process more personal. You can more easily connect later, and your contacts are more likely to remember you. 8. Always follow through quickly with new referrals and downline members. Follow up can actually make or break your business, especially with your referrals. As with any marketing, most of the time it will require multiple contacts before your referrals join. Some may never join, but you can increase your chances by staying in contact. With your downline members, it can keep them in your organization and building their businesses.
