What is a Glutamine?

For the active athletes, glutamine is considered to be a source of muscle booster. It is mainly produced in the muscles and helps in the muscle growth. Weightlifters, triathletes, marathon runners, and body builders supply their body with glutamine because it keeps them energized, and removes stress brought by heavy training and activities. It makes the muscles less painful especially after a workout at the gym. Glutamines are actually available in many foods like beef, chicken, fish, eggs, milk wheat, cabbage and many other vegetables , but as a body builder and athlete ,there is a tendency for its level to slip, so the need for supplement. As the body gets exhausted due to continuous use of the muscles, glutamine adds fuel to it. Because of its presence, the individual gets enough opportunity for recovery and resistance, making him more highly motivated in his training. In many researches made, it has been found out that aside from promoting muscle growth, this acid contributes to the improvement of the immune system. That is why, after exercise, the chances of contacting diseases are diminished. The intake of glutamine is not only limited to the athletes. People who are in the process of recuperating from sickness, surgery, and even cancer patients benefit from it.

But what is glutamine? Glutamine is a non – essential amino acid, but essential in some situations. It is important, because it influences the biochemical function of the body. It is essential in wound healing, extreme stress, gastrointestinal disorder, post operations, lessens the effect of chemotherapy, and weight gain for HIV patients among others. Glutamine is found mainly in human blood, and is released slowly by the brain. But in extreme cases, there is a need to give supplement to the body, because there are some situations in which its amount drops. It is in fact, the most abundant free amino acid in the body, known also as the building blocks of protein. It is distributed to the different organs that need it. It also assists in the production of blood sugar .Studies also show that this material in the body affects the proper function of the intestines, kidney and control the presence of cancer cells. It makes the immune system healthy and productive.

The lifestyle of the athlete needs energy and power. This will serve as the fuel to keep the body from running strong. Glutamines are needed in this situation to bring back the fuel and maintain the firepower to be able to fight back stress. Sometimes in the gym, injuries cannot be avoided, so to keep the ball rolling, he should be aware of this supplement. Glutamines have been studied for the last 10 to 15 years, and it has yielded positive results, and is still improving. The only thing one has to do is to be aware of who is qualified to take it, and seek advice from a health provider. The dosage must be strictly followed to avoid negative effects and for protection, so its benefits be enjoyed properly.
