Themagazine s health care experts have determined that bothpulmonology and gastroenterology care ranks at or near the top 25%of pediatric centers nationwide, qualifying Vermont Children s forthe magazine s Best Children s Hospitals list. It is the onlychildren s hospital identified in northern New England andnorthern New York state on the list.

This ranking comes on the heels of several nationalacknowledgements of the high quality of care provided at FletcherAllen, including placement on the U.S. News Best Regional Hospitalslist earlier this year, said John Brumsted, M.D., president andchief executive officer.

U.S. News surveyed 178 pediatric centers and 1,500 pediatricspecialists to make its determinations. In addition to rankings,the Best Children s Hospitals survey provides quality-relatedinformation including survival rates, adequacy of nurse staffing,availability of key resources, and ability to prevent complicationsand infections, among other factors.
