No matter how bright, successful, experienced and seasoned you become in our industry, this bomb will continue to block your progress until you make the firm decision to never step near it. There are no shortcuts to wealth and MLM success. Not one. Period. End of story. But I can assure you there are people sitting up all night every night arming this mine so they can plant it in front of any vulnerable Distributor who thinks he or she can purchase a shortcut to wealth. Unfortunately, many of us are just naive enough to believe in the shortcut fairy. Sometimes people will offer to sell you shortcuts that appear so brilliant and simple to execute that it seems only an idiot would decline. Let me tell you about a few of the shortcut mines my team and I have stepped on. Let’s see. First there was the infomercial shortcut. Then there was the health fair booth. Then there was the fundraiser concept. Then there were the telemarketers and the wonderful phone room leads. Then there was the corporate Christmas Gift Plan. Then there was the “behind the counter at the retail pharmacy” plan. Then there was the charity shortcut, followed closely by the $50,000 full page Wall Street Journal Regional Ad. Toward the very end of my last build came the $5,000 weekend MLM training camp, Personal Life Coaches and Celebrity Product Endorsers, but by then I had sworn off shortcuts forever. I was so fed up with shortcuts that I wouldn’t have paid the twelve disciples themselves to wear t-shirts with my company logo in solid gold during a half-time performance at the Super Bowl. If Elvis showed up tomorrow in a spaceship, I wouldn’t pay him $100 to sign up on my front line. Network Marketing is about building a huge organization of dedicated capitalists willing to work hard to move a legitimate product or service to end users. There are no shortcuts. In 1995 I offered $300,000 cash to any Networker who could build the same size group I had built in the same amount of time by using an MLM shortcut. Not one consultant or expert even tried. Why? Because there are no shortcuts. Or should I say, there are plenty of shortcuts for sale, it’s just that none of them work. You probably won’t convince your new people to avoid his particular mine because you have no power over a volunteer sales force and shortcut peddlers can be very seductive. If they purchase this volume of The Holy Grail and read it several times it may be the best investment you ever encourage them to make. Affirmation: There are no shortcuts to dramatic wealth in Network Marketing. Not one. Period. End of story.
