So what is a Sales Funnel and why do you need one? The reason you should start building out a sales funnel is because you'll make a lot more money from your business. Here's why. You've probably spent hours and hundreds of dollars into creating and perfecting your sales page, and providing your website with a good traffic source. Sales are coming in and you feel satisfied, though you feel as if you might be missing a very important step. This crucial step is the ability to start a conversation with people who are interested in your products or services. The fastest and easiest way to sell anything is to ask a group of people what they want, and then sell it to them. If you don't have a list of prospects you can get in touch with to ask them, you can't do that. That's the reason taking the time to build a list is one of the most profitable strategies you can use. Many websites have opt-in forms on them these days. If it's being done right, the list being built through those forms is the first step in a multi-step sales funnel. Start doing the same thing from your site, and then spend some time finding a variety of ways to turn those subscribers into customers. It's called a funnel because it's where you start out with a lot of website visitors who are just looking around, but a few of the people in that group will become regular visitors. Then an even smaller number will will join your mailing list, and ultimately a smaller number of those people will become buyers. There are three common mistakes online business owners generally make with their mailing lists. Mistake #1: Only sending messages to their list when they want to do a promotion. Send good, helpful content to your readers as well as product offers, and people will stay subscribed to your list for much longer. Mistake #2: Advertising another company often. You may have heard of solo ads, which is the act of having someone with a huge mailing list advertise a service. Try to avoid advertising someone else's business, as clients generally view this as a waste of an email. Mistake #3: Not responding to subscribers. If a person has a question about your product or wants more information on the tips you provided them, you should answer back as soon as possible. If you signed up to a mailing list, asked a question, and never got a response back then you would probably do what most people would do, unsubscribe and never purchase of that company again. Building a sales funnel can take time and effort to set up, but it will certainly pay for itself by increasing your sales. To get started, create and give away a free PDF report explaining how you can help your readers solve a problem they are having. Then offer to do it for them at a special subscriber-only price or rate so they don't have to go through the bother of doing it themselves. Giving away some kind of free trial, a discount coupon, a 2 for 1 offer, a series of useful tips, some kind of video training, or customers surveys are just some of the non-promotional content you can send by email. Staying in touch with people and actually helping them will show you are thinking about them, and make them more likely to purchase from you when you make an offer for one of your products or services.
