This is a very potent week with so many converging Holy Days. In the Hindu tradition it is Holi the “Festival of Colors” is celebrated in honor of the victory of good over evil! In the Jewish tradition it is Passover is a lunar holy time commemorating the emancipation of Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt. The Christian tradition celebrates Easter, a time of observance of the resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after the crucifixion. To be more precise word Easter actually originated from the pagan tradition when during this time of spring festivities honoring the fertility goddess Eastre with her symbols of rabbits and eggs were held in celebration of the Earth’s regeneration and new life cycle! Also Mary Magdelen is often left out of the the modern day Easter story. Mary Magdalen truly considered to be the “Apostle of Apostles” was there with Jesus and anointed his body with Spikenard a powerful aromatherapy application to assist in experiencing higher levels of consciousness. She is also the origin of the tradition of coloring of the eggs. For when Mary went to the Apostles to share the news that Christ had risen and they initially didn’t believe her so she held up and egg and said “He has risen, He has risen” and the egg turned Red! So interesting to see how these stories have been lost or changed over time. All of these Holy Days follow the Lunar calendar with the Full Moon aligning on the axis of relationships with the Sun being in Aries (relationship with self) and the Moon in Libra (balance in relationship with others) it is interesting to note these Holy Day stories are ones of relationships — oppression of others and freedom from bondage. The lessons of Aries are about finding our own autonomy and authenticity on the one end of the zodiac; and the other end are lessons of Libra which are about creating healthy compassionate relationships and learning to be with others in good and positive ways. No matter what religion or spiritual practice you ascribe too, we invite you to take a healing journey with us.
