Basic carpet cleaning is something everyone should take part in. If you have a rug or any carpeted flooring then stay tuned and listen up. I’m going to give you a few great reasons to take care of your soft flooring that may be news to you. Then I’ll tell you how to care for your flooring and your health. The number one reason to take good care of your carpet is sanitation. The second reason would be because of the life expectancy of your floors. With a little tender love and care your floors can remain surprisingly clean and last many more years than one that is not up kept. Carpet and rugs play as a filter for your air and your shoes or feet. Hard surfaces like wood floors will show you everything that settles on the floor but carpet doesn’t. Carpet acts like a filter and things that settle on it settle into it. With hard floors the dust can easily be brushed up and become air borne again. A carpet is great for keeping your air clean but needs a little more than a simple sweeping. With all of the dust and things transferring from your shoes every time someone steps into the house, a lot of stuff ends up in the fibers. Grass, dirt, pebbles, or even oils from the garage transferring from the bottom of your family’s shoes onto the flooring may not be noticeable. They are all there and build up in the carpet within a few weeks of regular traffic. Bugs! Dust mites, fleas, and other small pests may be in your carpet. Regular care can help reduce and remove these terrible pests. When it comes to cleaning the first thing is vacuuming. I’m not talking about a shop vacuum but a carpet vacuum. If you own a few rugs, especially those entry rugs, give them a good vacuum every week or two. They will get dirty quickly and usually contain more than you can visibly see. Doing so will result in much longer carpet life, cleaner floors, and cleaner air. A decent vacuum will do just fine. You do not need to spend hundreds of dollars on the best vacuum you can find. A HEPA filter is preferred especially if someone in the household has allergies. A proper vacuuming will take time. You may have to go over the same area a few times if the carpet has not been taken care of. Be patient with it, vacuum until you are not picking up anything. The next step with cleaning is to remove those built up areas of oil and dirt that have made dark areas around your flooring. You can perform a wet cleaning yourself but its best to leave that to the professionals. A steam cleaning by a professional or wet cleaning (often advertised as steam cleaning) will bring your carpets and rugs back to life. This type of cleaning uses water and cleaning solutions to break down and rinse out problem spots. With the proper cleaning solutions germs and bacterial growth can be greatly reduced or eliminated. I suggest you do research on any type of wet cleaning system before implementing them. This carpet cleaning League City web page can guide you on wet cleaning and professionals associated with it. Keep your house clean, keep your floors cleaner.
