That was the question I was asked by a client when I was interpreting for with Anastasiadate agency. He was looking at me with hope and excitement in his eyes and I could tell by the way he looked he was already in love with that girl . "Just if you are very lucky, but you have to get very, very lucky.. And I wish you that it will happen!" I replied in order not to tell a lie, yet not to ruin his very last hope. But as a matter of fact, I was quite sure it won't.. Having got this new job with Anastasiadate, one of the most known and reputable International dating agencies, I was first feeling happy. Just reading reports on their success rate in 2012 and their plans to expand business by another 20% in 2013 made me super-excited about becoming part of the team. However, in just a couple of weeks of working with them I realized their whole business strategy is one big scam. Girls got paid a commission on the chats they had with men and often translators were chatting and composing letters instead of the girl. When a girl went to a date with a guy she was accompanied by an interpreter and got a percentage of the fee interpreter charged the man. Perhaps, some of the girls were genuine in their intentions, but the business strategy of Anastasiadate was not focusing on selecting that sort of ladies. They were rather focusing on attracting as many women as possible, and they couldn't care less if those women were genuine or just joined the agency to make money. When a new lady applied to join the agency they were evaluating the possibility of her joining not on how honest her intentions are but rather on how beautiful she is and how many clients she can attract to do paid chats and write paid letters to her. The girl going out with my client was a cute blonde who obviously had no problems getting attention from Russian men and no aspiration to look for a foreign husband. She always chose the most expensive restaurants to eat out at and acted very distant. I was supposed to share the money I received for translations with her. The first time I was told to do so I was mad. "I'm the translator, and I'm paid for my work, what's she paid for?" I wondered from agency manager. "But she's also spending time going out with that man and it's our strategy to make her interested in keeping going out with him," was the manager's reply. Working as a freelance translator I did work for many companies including other dating agencies, but none of them, before or after asked me to share what I made with the girl. And none of them charged guys money to share it with someone talking to them online. Anastasiadate, the most advertised agency, was the only one. That was a real shock for me. After a few weeks of that experience with them I left them. The cute blonde is probably still going out with a bunch of American and Western European guys just to eat out and get a share of her interpreters' fees..
