New contest awards prizes to volunteers for giving their time to improve communities around the world. April 22, 2013 – Up To You is a new worldwide call to action intended to celebrate and encourage volunteerism and community involvement. Part of the initiative is a series of contests that reward volunteers with prizes. The first contest starts this May. Contestants enter by sharing a short story about one of their most positive volunteer experiences. Winners will receive a copy of the book, “How Will You Create Positive Change”. The contest is open to anyone who is or has been a volunteer for a non-profit, community center, school, or city. The contest will run from May 1st – 27th and is free to enter. Up To You was created based on the book, “How Will You Create Positive Change”, which features 16 people from around the world who have created positive change in their communities. They are working in education, human rights, poverty alleviation, environmental sustainability, cultural preservation, health, violence prevention, and innovation. They are from different countries with different skin colors, different genders, and different beliefs. Yet they share a common mission of improving their communities and a respect for others.
