LONDON – May 21, 2012: Nissan's e-NV200 prototype haspicked up its first award, the Environment Award in the 2012 VanFleet World Honours, more than 12 months before it goes on sale. Van Fleet World editor, John Kendall, said: "If there are twoobvious vehicle types where electric power could make seriousinroads, it would have to be in the delivery and commuter vehiclesectors. Nissan flicked the electric switch first with the LEAF andthe e-NV200 prototype has adopted the same basic technology andapplied it to a delivery vehicle. You can't go out and buyone yet, but Nissan has been conducting trials with FedEx andBritish Gas, part of the company's global proving test withthe vehicle. Range can be extended by rapid charging which canboost the batteries to 80 per cent of full charge in 30minutes." The Nissan e-NV200 prototype is a near-production version of abattery electric compact van based on the popular Nissan NV200. Itoffers a highly responsive, easy and impressive driving experiencewhich is far superior to traditional fossil fuel powered vehicles. The production version is expected to offer a driving range verysimilar to Nissan's electric passenger car the LEAF, whilstcombining outstanding cargo space similar to the current NV200compact van. In line with the Nissan LEAF, the Nissan e-NV200prototype also offers excellent energy efficiency - a criticalfactor for any owner. James Douglas, corporate sales director, Nissan Motor (GB) Ltdcommented: "The e-NV200 prototype has been designed toprovide businesses with functional and roomy interior space, whileproducing zero CO2 at the point of use.
