The soul would have no rainbow had the eyes no tears. _John Vance Cheney You see and hear words unrehearsed and real. Words come to mind from a letter written by someone from overseas, who later married a US citizen, the man with whom she fell in love. You have an open invitation to come with me and see how very different the world appears when you venture into a rainbow and start seeing with your heart. One morning, Nancy wrote to her fiancé, “I cannot remember how many times I’ve told you that you are my greatest treasure. You’re the bird’s song on a rainy day. You’re a cool, soft breeze on a sweltering. You are the sunset after a long hard day, and the brightest ray of all my days. I love you with all my heart, and through you, I have known complete happiness and contentment. With you I feel whole.” The poet, Robert Browning, may be dead, but the raw emotions of love spilling out from the heart, and expressed through words is very much alive. In life, if we are lucky enough, each of us finds our soulmate. A kindred spirit that feels every emotion we feel as if it were their own. When you make the connection to your soulmate, something extraordinary occurs, when you hurt, they hurt, when you feel loss, they too feel loss, and your soulmate goes into the quiet center of who you are, and in this shared space, both hearts beat with a breathless expectation as if they were one. This is the friend, the companion, the one you bare your soul to, and the one with whom all pretense melts away, and in this light of pure, unconditional love, you can be completely honest about your thoughts and feelings, without worrying if you’ll be betrayed or judged. Sometimes when you cannot find what you’re searching for in life, you have to think out of the box, so to speak. Going about your days and nights in a robotic way, as if you’re spending all your time marching in one place, isn’t acceptable when you know something in your life is missing. That said; is the something missing in your life someone? People change the circumstances of their lives every day by finding the courage within themselves to reach out to a kindred spirit like them. What are you waiting for? Opening up to someone special, and revealing yourself is frightening. Yet, when you find your one true friend, your partner in life, you know in your heart even when they have seen you at your best and at your worst, the unconditional love, trust, and oneness you share will sustain you. When you venture into the rainbow, lines of color fade, and you are left with a purity of heart, you feel wanted, needed, appreciated, and loved for who you are, and you discover a place where it is possible to receive one of life’s greatest treasures –love. Look into a rainbow and notice how the colors fade beyond the hue, red fades into yellow, yellow fades into green and sometimes green fades into blue, and blue into purple. Like the rainbow, we are a multinational, world society, and every year more and more of us realize little separates us from who we are inside, more importantly, little separates our needs, wants and desires.
