Immigration and visa issues are overseen by The Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Generally a Thai rule gives two types of visas. • Tourist Visas & Exemptions • Non-Immigrant Visas Tourist Visas & Exemptions are a process of the Thai government to allow entry 41 different nationalities without a prearranged visa. The country includes USA, New Zealand, Australia and few of Europe. Checking is strictly done and denied entry if the visitor is unable to show proof of the onward ticket or do not have sufficient fund for his stay. But in practically tickets and funds are rarely checked if the visitor goes for the immigration check with nicely dressed. Since 2008 there has been a slightly changed during the duration of stay depending upon the arrival. Arrival by air exempted tourists gets a 30 day visa issued against them without a charge. But in comparisons to the airway, in land arrival the duration of the visitor coming from exempted country is lessened to 15 days of visa. It has an exception for the Malaysian nationalities that arrives via land gets a special advantage of the 30 days of visa. Persons tending to stay more than their allotted duration should apply for a renewal of 60 days. Obtaining the extended visa would be cheaper and easier if it is arranged before coming to Thailand. After arriving the extension is also available but that would be a bit costly in comparison. This Thailand visas will be available from the Thai embassies or consulates. Another is non-immigrant visas. This is very good for foreigners who enter Thailand for retirement, study purpose; business related tasks and extended visits to families. This Thailand visas are available for 90 days which is a good duration for the above mentioned work related tasks. In his visa class multiple entries are offered. To access this multiple entry the candidate should apply for it to the Thai consulate in Europe, or US or Australia. This class of Thailand visas are good for them who would need for a work permit. Initial stage for work permit is non-immigrant visa. Visa extension is done at any immigration office in Thailand. Bangkok immigration office is used by most of the foreigners. 1900B is usually charged as the fee for renewal. Extension of seven to ten days is given to the visitors having a general stay of 15 or 30 days if an extension is being handled within the time limit. Discretion of Thai immigration authorities can extend a 60 day visa. Land arrival visa rules are a bit strict due to the illegal stay or moving by the land routes. Overstay of visa would pay a penalty from 500B to 20,000B. Overstay of visa will be checked while leaving the airport. Children’s bellow 14 years will be spared from overstay if they are traveling along with their parents. For extension of visas candidate should go directly to the Thai consulates cleanly dressed with photo, visa papers and other required documents. This makes the impression for the acceptance of the request.
