Donate to charity in Australia and you can save huge on tax payables. Yes it is true, the 4.6 million strong taxpaying Australian population actually make tax deductible donations each year and not only saves on tax but also does a lot of good to the community. In Australia one of the most common forms of charity has been direct giving or donating.
Apart from the common good for the community, the most attractive advantage of donating to charity is its simplicity. As a donor you simply have to choose a charitable organization of your choice and give the desired donation amount. The organization will issue you a receipt to that effect which you will have to produce to the government authorities and claim your tax benefit.
When you plan to donate to charity in Australia, you may come across numerous voluntary organizations. If you are donating as a community service and don’t need a receipt, you can choose one that you feel is reliable and trustworthy but if you are looking for tax deductible you need to select one that is registered as a Deductible Gift Recipient. The donation you make will not have any strings attached meaning the charity can be used for whatever the organization deems as most needed and you may not have a say on where or how it is spent unless the amount is pretty large.
Sums donated by individuals are generally not too big and the receiving charity organization may not be able to track the purpose of each and every donation received. They generally pool in all the resources received and use it to the best of their ability. To make sure that the money you donate to charity in Australia is put to use for something that you prefer it to be used for, choose the organization carefully. There are a lot of things that can motivate your decision – something that you are passionate about or feel very strongly about, a problem you see in your society or community and would like to fix, certain sections of the society you want to help maybe geographic basis or the community that you belong to or grew in or may be to uplift the poor in rural Australia and so on. You may also find community foundations a useful resource as they have other organizations, companies and individuals coming to them for funding different projects.
There are charitable organizations working in every segment of the society who can benefit greatly from whatever little you can donate. And so if you do decide to donate to charity in Australia you may find there are many takers.
