SEO is becoming an increasingly good way of increasing your profits, no matter if your business caters for b2b or b2c customers. This article will look at several ways that an SEO company can help you increase your sales and profits.


The first thing to ask is, what is Search Engine Optimisation? A great way to understand what this service is, is by comparing it to a standard bricks and mortar shop. To make money, your shop would need visitors to come in and browse, then make a purchase.


How would you get more visitors into the store? You could put out flyers, posters, newspaper adverts or even radio adverts, but none of these would work if no one knew where the shop was. Your shop needs to be easy to find, otherwise the customers won’t come!


Search Engine Optimisation (or SEO) is basically the online version of making your shop easy to find. It’s like an online map or directions to your shop. Hiring an SEO company to help you with this is a very cost effective way to make your website easy to find, and therefore increase the number of customers that visit you online. This in turn will help to increase your sales and profits!


But how exactly does an SEO company help? The first thing to remember is that this service should fit in with your business objectives. Many online sales beginners make the mistake of optimising their site for the wrong kinds of keywords. This could mean lots of visitors, but they could be coming to your site for the wrong reasons. The real world equivalent would be a clothes shop advertising shoes for half price, but when the customer enters they find that shoes are actually full price, and it’s actually hats that are on special offer. They would be disappointed and then leave.


The same can happen online on your website if an SEO company is not there to help you properly. Instead, think about ‘commercial intent’. Choose keywords that are relevant to what you have to offer, and what a potential buyer would be searching for.


But how do you attract visitors who are looking to buy? There are several techniques. If you are a local business with one location, a great way is to optimise your landing page for "your service + your town". Let’s take an electronics store as an example. Imagine your customer lives in London and is looking for a set of speakers because his old set is broken. He wants to see them before he buys, to make sure they are good and are loud enough to fill his room. He then goes on Google and searches for "good speakers London". If your electronics shop was set up for this keyword with the help of an SEO company, it would appear on the first page of the results. He would then visit the website, reserve the speakers and visit the store in person to buy them.


SEO is really that simple and can really benefit any kind of business!
