There is no doubt that Mizuno is one of the top iron makers on the market, and has been so for a while. I got these Mizuno MX 300 Irons last week. All I can say is WOW. What a superb club, some forgiveness in the longer irons, but you have to be able to consistently strike the ball well. The Mizuno MX-300 iron has been designed to provide players with a reduced offset, more compact alternative to the popular MX-200 range, with a club head top line and face size that places the Mizuno MX-300 falls directly between the mp-69 irons and MX-200. Featuring both an undercut cavity and Grain Flow forged feel this means the MX-300 offers the assistance of a game improvement irons with the shot making ability of the MP range. The MX-300 uses Mizuno’s Y-Tune technology from the Mizuno MX-200 irons to provide a full cavity club with enhanced feel and control but in a reconfigured shape. This enables Mizuno to strengthen the area around the toe for more forgiveness. The sole of the MX-300 irons is also dual cambered to minimize turf drag and digging at impact. Upon unpacking the MX-300 irons, I was a little surprised, as I didn't expect them to be as attractive as they were. They are much more elegant in person than they are in the pictures. At that point, I really didn't know what to expect in terms of performance, because surely MX-level forgiveness couldn't come in a package that looked almost MP-like at address. Once I took them out for their first test, I realized how wrong I was. From the rough, they also performed exceptionally well, as they cut through the tall grass without getting stuck like some thicker, bulkier irons do sometimes. The dual cambered sole worked as advertised, as I never really had an issue getting them stuck when I'd come down extra hard and steep. Normally, if you can tell you made contact outside of the sweet spot, you expect a loss of distance, but with these, that simply did not seem to be the case.
