When we are young we are young we can simply enjoy our lives as there is no restrictions on food and other aspects as we are healthy enough. Even if one falls sick or need some support we always find someone or the other for our assistance. But once we start becoming old the scenario completely changes as we now do not find any one to look after us, leaving us lonely and helpless. Today due the advancement in medical technology people have a longer life span and face the above problems when they become old. As the children of the aged do not have the time to look after them or provide them support needed at this age they now prefer living in the retirement villages.The retirement villages are specially planned communities with housing and other facilities for the retired members of the society.Many people regard these retirement units and the nursing houses as same, since both are made for the senior citizens. Nursing Homes are for those elders who need assistance in their daily activities like taking bath, eating as well as going for walks. These aged need constant care and support as they are more or less disabled. These nursing homes do not accommodate healthy aged people as they do not require any medical assistance, as they would in very less time feel claustrophobic in such an atmosphere. Moreover the nursing homes are much expensive than the retirement villages as they take monthly fees from the inmates. The retirement villages are basically residential areas planned and designed by the Retirement Living Consultants, which are more or less like a resort for the aged. These villages are just perfect for the healthy elders who can still enjoy their lives. The villages have specially designed houses, transport facilities, clubs, swimming pools and gyms to make the senior citizens live a luxurious life. There is also room for recreation as the communities in the villages arrange dinners, trips and games to keep them engaged. Basic medical facilities are also provided along with the other services required in day to day life the retirement villages are much cheaper as people mostly buy villas as per their financial abilities and pay monthly or annual fees for the facilities in the villages. Retirement villages are a much preferred than the nursing homes as it has much better ambience to enjoy the last years of one’s life.
