Tips to Avoid Music Marketing Information Overload

Entertainment
There’re numerous facts in this subject written on “Music Marketing” that we might take the time to review carefully with attention so that you can acquire the most from it.

I wish to give you just a little mantra you should use in your music marketing that goes like this… "I will spend 80% of my time producing amazing music, 15% music marketing after which 5% learning music marketing material."

This is a lot like cutting off my nose to spite my face because I create a lot of music marketing content myself, but in the event that you spend all of your time eating up all the details it's very difficult to ever circumvent to actually producing any music of worth.

…and marketing crap music includes a name…SPAM!

You need to consider all the internet courses, guides and books like shiny objects which are pulling you in most different guidelines and stay with one method before you make it successful.

But the very fact remains that should you don't can even make any music of worth you aren't really a musician.

Maybe you have been in music marketing information overload?

This morning I approached my computer with excitement following a long week-end away with the concept that I'd pump out a lot of blog posts and begin work on my new eBook.

But the master plan appears to have gone all wonky…

I opened my twitter client to observe that my friend sent me a hyperlink to an excellent article about how exactly to "sing such as a rock star", and that resulted in another after which another.

So now I understand the theory of killer vocal delivery but I'm no longer on with my mission to provide you with guys the very best music marketing info I will muster:

Note to self, never open twitter each morning, it's an overall total bloody time suck!

There are some things that I've learned through the years (but that I sometimes ignore) that have helped me become more productive in my own music marketing and in music generally.

- You will find only an extremely few things that actually need your time and effort. These include making music and marketing music, forget anything else or get it done in short bursts of 25 minutes every day.

- Reading music marketing training does maybe not count as work, you need to actually set a timer and begin getting something done as well.

- Work in 50 minute bursts of focused activity with a brief break between. This can help you tap into your natural rhythm.

- Do not read your email until 4 O'clock and set a 30 minute timer with this task. Set your band email account to let people know that you're doing this to become more efficient and can return to them once you can.

- Give your self monthly commitments. This is often anything from writing blogs to calling at the very least 5 music contacts every day.

What does an unproductive morning seem like for a musician?

1. Read 20 articles on music marketing and music industry news. 2. Scanned facebook and twitter for 45 minutes and followed links randomly. 3. Done the design of the music weblog on a component that only the perfectionists would notice. 4. Spent half an hour in the music forums.

Now the thing is none of this stuff is bad and you may be forgiven for thinking you had gotten both hands very dirty in the music business and made a contribution. But unfortunately that isn't the case because there is no focus with no planning.

Now let us look at a morning to be proud of…

1. Spent a good 50 minute period focusing on 2 new blogs. 2. 10 minute recharge. 3. Spend yet another 50 minutes editing blogs from the prior day and posting to your blog. 4. 30 minute recharge. 5. 50 minutes songwriting / recording a video for YouTube to create traffic to your blog. 6. 10 minute recharge. 7. Added a few emails to the newsletter sequence that automatically is out to the fans. 8. 30 minute recharge. 9. Called 10 venue managers and booked 2 gigs. 10. 10 minute recharge. 11. Spent 50 minutes answering email and learning audio marketing tactics in my own focus area.

If you create a commitment like this every day you will discover that your projects increases ten fold and you'll be able to spend all of those other day reading your email or learning audio marketing stuff if you want.

The problems may come if you use that early burst of energy each morning to just eat up material, after which when you receive down to doing some actual work you totally forget that which you were doing and also have no focus.

It's very difficult to start producing great work half way during the day because the body has go out of willpower and energy.

To tell the truth it's about focus and also you really is capable of more in 4 hours than many people get done in an entire day, in the event that you just turn off all that crap pulling you from the task available.

But this short article is so essential

A large amount of times you may even find that you're reading something which seems like it will change your lifetime, and you'll tell yourself that you actually are making progress together with your music career in the event that you just obtain the hang of the info.

Well…I enable you to into just a little secret.

You know enough at this time to become professional musician in the event that you just use that which you know and make progress every day. We all know how to proceed, because it isn't rocket science.

Then when should you feed your mind?

Now in the event that you have read up until now you might be thinking that I am suggesting that you won't ever take time to learn or plan and that you're always senselessly just mashing away at your keyboard. This couldn't be further from the facts because your brain is a lot like a car, if you will run miles and miles you'll need the right number of fuel at the best time.

As musicians and music marketers we have to know what others say so that people can form a viewpoint and add new tips to our songs and marketing plan.

Here's what I indicate if you've got a full time job:

Find 4 hours each day to focus on your music marketing then think about it such as this:

- Hour 1 - produce content be it music, blogs or videos.

- Hour 2 - use auto-posting websites like Ping FM, Onlywire, Social Oomph and Tube Mogul to push out your articles fast.

- Hour 3 - Edit your music and blogs and have it ready for publishing tomorrow.

- Hour 4 - Refuel, make use of this time to check on your email, read blogs and take notes.

Have a rest…

Another important element of this is you'll want to have time every day when you totally switch off from everything and just make a move that doesn't take any brain power at all. Sometimes TELEVISION or game titles can work. You won’t feel guilty now because you will certainly know that you did great work that day!

I remember when I was making my first album I convinced myself when I really desired to make it happen I should focus 22 hours each day for the time of the recording and put everything into which makes it a good thing we ever did. I would spend countless hours a day just hearing the recordings like some type of freaky Howard Hughes dude.

BAD!

But what Used to do not realize at that time was that the break can in fact make things are more effective and provide you with more perspective. While in your break you may think of a fantastic new guitar hook or perhaps a lyric that will resonate deeply together with your fans.

If I had just taken just a little step back I believe I might have made much more progress and enjoyed things much more.

I now just take regular breaks during the day and this keeps me centered on the task available and my energy stay high during the day, which is excellent.

The musical grey zone (An enormous problem! )

For anything out of this article just allow it to be the truth that you wish to avoid spending all of your life eating up all of the music marketing goodness without ever making the cake. (Wow I am churning out the metaphors today just like a cow makes milk! )

People think that there's some big secret for this stuff and when they can just learn it everything will undoubtedly be OK and the record labels will look after them…

!!! THIS CAN BE A MYTH!!!

I can’t' let you know how often I've spoken with musicians who moan concerning the following issues:

- I have got employment, so I've no time for you to work on my music career but lots of time to play angry birds four hours each day.

- Music marketing confusion in the event that you try and do all you will get nowhere, just concentrate on what you realize.

- I spend 3 hours each day reading each and every piece of information after which I feel too confused to complete anything just stop it, this is actually the evil grey zone. You have to break out of those traps now otherwise you're going to get to the finish of yet another year as well as your music ambition will seem even more away since you will tell yourself that you're a failure.

This is among the main reasons that many people never allow it to be because they never create a commitment to work on it every day doing essential tasks which will have a genuine impact.

Use that which you learn The first rung on the ladder back for the music marketing junkie is some focus. If you're working on YouTube to create hits to your site right now spend your learning time searching for bigger and improved ways to become the following YouTube superhero. Proper you hit the computer next morning use that which you learn.

In the event that you just follow this simple rule you'll suddenly become a lot more efficient because that point you spend reading now includes a purpose.

If you simply eat all the details like a greedy pig you're going to get fatter and fatter and slower and slower before you become a beached whale and will need to settle for a crappy job which will melt your mind.

Let me save your valuable brain guys Learn once each day in a focused area and be the master of it…SIMPLES!

Handy Hint: Take a short break and think about the subject regarding “indie music marketing”, most of the ideas and information on this content aims to entertain as well as educate, if you wish to find more info regarding the subject matter, apply a search about "indie music promotion tools" on any google and you will find numerous results that are helpful for you.

To complete this article I'd like to share my commitments with this month so you may get inspired to create a few on your own.

As I stated before the worst feeling on the planet is dealing with the end of the entire year and convinced that instead of creating daily progress and achieving something cool you simply played Call of Duty for the entire time and therefore are still employed by a boss that you'd secretly prefer to kill. - Create content that counts and is important. - Help as many folks as possible use their musical talent to locate a happier funner life. - Increase the twitter and facebook chatter instead of just spying on that dude I visited high school with.

- Weblog every day. - Post a podcast every day. - Post a YouTube video every day. - Add valuable comment to the music marketing community. It’s this that I'm doing, now it's your decision; let me understand what you are devoted to in the comment box below?

It is little aspects, such as this, which may aid you in your surf about “Music Marketing”. So, have a break and decide which aspects would be great for you to take.
