Although the field of electronics was growing exponentially during 1976, due to the reserved internal policies, India missed the first wave of electronics and semiconductor manufacturing. While the countries like Korea, Taiwan and Singapore took advantage of the market and provided a ground for outsourcing in the sectors of electronics and semiconductor manufacturing, which helped these countries to come up with a robust infrastructure for electronic hardware manufacturing. Reshuffling of internal policy in 1990 has helped the country to take a major stride in liberalization of economy; recent years have seen India emerging as a technological hub in the field of Industrial & Semi Industrial Electronics. In addition of being the nerve center of software outsourcing, India is now fast emerging as a hub of Electronic Manufacturing Services, Electronic Design Services (EDS) like PCB design services at any phase of product development cycle from conceptual stage to mass production. A PCB is actually a circuit board with electronic components is called a printed circuit assembly (PCA), and and a combination of both is called as printed circuit board assembly or PCB Assembly (PCBA). There are various big and small electronics manufacturing units that can provide complete integration of different services and have customized lines for box building,electronic instrument cluster assembly, electronic data systems, integration and testing. These plants are capable of providing complete turnkey manufacturing services which includes procurement and resourcing of input components, in-house development of functional test jigs on lab-view software and much more. The integrated service offerings include complete product engineering solutions from Hardware Designing to PCB Designing and from development of plastic and metal parts to Software Development. The advancement of technology has lead to the growth of electronics sector in India. Due to the liberalization of economy and the government support the electronic manufacturing services sector is growing at a phenomenal rate that has been unprecedented in the country. The government is extending a full support to electronic manufacturing companies in delhi and elsewhere, it has recently announced Modified Special Incentive Package Scheme (M-SIPS) that is applicable to 29 categories of electronic products. The scheme is open to proposals from both startup and already established companies which promises a subsidy of 25% on capital investments in new ventures and a grant of 50% for common facilities for units located in a particular area. It is believed that by the end of the year an approval of Rs. 25,000 crore would be sanctioned as incentives for investment proposals.
