Indian society is full of vivid colors of art and culture. There are different art and craft products that are made out of raw materials, which reflect the ethnicity of India and convey the spirit of the artists as well as the society as a whole. There are a variety of art pieces that have been the envoys and testimonies of the changing times, thoughts, ideas, lifestyles, science, technology, and the overall culture of the land in concern. Since the times of Indus Valley Civilization, there have been several forms Indian handicraft, such as paintings, making metal statues, wood sculpture crafts, jewelry, stone carving, idol making, building temples, textile crafting, and many others that have found their origin in India. All these forms of art make up India’s cultural heritage, which has been expanding since ages. The impeccable artwork done by the diligent and skillful Indian artists is providing us with amazingly crafted art pieces even in this modern age. There are numerous articles that are being created by Indian artists. The Indian art and craft is very beautifully reflected through these archetypes ranging from wall hangings, woodcrafts, pen holders, marble paintings and decorative accessories, gemstone and meenakari paintings, Thanjavur, Mysore, and Kalighat paintings, textiles in the form of apparels, bed spreads, handbags, picture frames, toys, and statues to many other different forms and different areas. Wood and marble are two of the most liked and preferred materials for handicraft items, and there are several artists who are the ardent crafters of wood and marble handicrafts. The different areas in India are famous for some or the other art form. In Kashmir, the carved walnut woodwork is famous among the lovers of art. The renowned art of veneering and lacquering has been a long tradition in Udaipur, Rajasthan, where the kheradees are the traditional woodworkers who have a respectable position in the society. Karnataka is famous for crafting articles in rosewood that are made by a traditional class of craftsmen, known as Gudigars. The skillfully and arduously created specimens of Indian artwork are popular all across the world and are utilized for different purposes, like for decorating one’s own house, for gifting them to friends and family and are also used often as gifts by corporate companies in India. Indian gifts due to the art and skills of Indian artisans know no bounds of popularity in the domestic as well as overseas markets. They can be easily found in the Indian markets, fairs and exhibitions. There are several corporate gift companies, wooden handicraft suppliers, and marble handicraft suppliers that are rapidly emerging in the Indian subcontinent for providing a strong support to the art and skills of the remotely based Indian artists and give a display to their work. Many of them have created their selling domains online, so as to be in the reach of international art lovers.
