Apple launched the first iPad just over three years ago and since then tablet PCs have become hugely popular with several brands, such as Samsung and Lenovo, bringing out their own devices. The fourth-generation iPad, the iPad 4, was released around six months ago along with the iPad Mini following the huge success of the iPad 2 and iPad 3. Both the iPad 4 and the iPad Mini are targeted towards slightly different customers. When the original iPad was launched in 2010 the tablet PC was only one standard size and, therefore, there was only one market. However, rival tablet producers have now found a way to succeed by creating a division of the market which is geared towards smaller-sized tablets which resulted in Apple launching its own smaller version of the iPad, the iPad Mini. Generally speaking, consumers are always looking for devices that will get them their money’s worth. In terms of pricing, the iPad Mini is a lot cheaper so if you want the iPad experience without the hefty price tag, the iPad Mini will suit you very well. The iPad Mini is called a mini because it is, well, smaller. It has a 7.9-inch screen as compared to the 9.7-inch iPad. Being small definitely has its advantages; it is more portable, more mobile and generally easier to carry around. Now the iPad 4, or as it is otherwise known, the iPad with Retina Display is more expensive than the iPad Mini, in fact, it is more than double. But it has many advantages over its miniature version as one would expect with a heftier price tag. The screen of the iPad retina features retina display, which gives you crystal clear and super-sharp images. The iPad 4 also features a better processor, which translates to a better experience. Not to say the iPad Mini is a slouch, it is just that the iPad 4 has the edge in this catergory. In terms of the things you can do with the iPad 4, it is just more productive than the iPad Mini. The iPad Mini is good for leisurely activities like movies, books, or games. However, when you want to get your work completed, having that extra screen space will definitely ease things up. There is no winner as such here because it all boils down to what the cosmumer wants to use his tablet for. For a lot of casual users, the iPad Mini will do everything that they need an iPad do but for the hardcore users, they might find the iPad 4’s specs making a world of a difference. Make no mistake, though, both devices deliver the iPad experience we have all come to love. The clean design and the smooth experience are in both devices. The iPad Mini is for those who want something cheaper and something that they could carry around anywhere while the iPad 4 is perfect for those who are looking to replace what they usually use their computers for.
