Taylormade isn't handling its marketing of the TaylorMade Rocketbladez irons lightly. They're, dare I say, going the distance.
The key to those benefits, of course, is TaylorMade's Speed Pocket --- 'the little thing that promotes radical increased speed and distance', according to the manufacturer. All told, TaylorMade's new Rocketbladez irons are incredibly fast and incredibly long while also promoting increased accuracy and stopping power.
"The Rocketbladez for sale come with a load of performance both in distance and consistant distance," said Brian Bazzel, Product Creation Manager for TaylorMade. "But even above that is it gives you a higher trajectory and improved feel by the way we treat the pocket in the back of the cavity."
It’s the same concept that makes our Taylormade RBZ Stage 2 fairway wood and Rescues so fast and long. In addition to delivering more speed for more distance, the RocketBladez Speed Pocket also delivers consistent speed, so shots fly a consistent distance for predictability from shot to shot. Incorporated in the 3- through 7-irons, the Speed Pocket also promotes dramatically less drop-off in ball speed on impacts low on the face, where the majority of iron mis-hits occur -- TaylorMade studies indicate that 68% of iron shots by amateur golfers are mis-hits below center-face.
TaylorMade has found something here with this speed pocket. The club launches the ball high so you have a lot a carry, but due to the speed pocket, which acts like an extra lever, the ball goes further than any club I have ever tested. I currently play the TaylorMade Burner 2.0 irons with KBS tour shafts. Normally, my wedge goes 130 years, my 7 iron 160, and my 5 iron 185. I had the 2.0 irons with me and hit them to confirm, and sure enough, those were the distances. All told, by using the RocketBladez I gained about 15 yards for each club.
