Golf Apparel Matters on the Course

Business
You can't just wear anything when you want to play nine or eighteen holes; you have to have the proper golf apparel. Not only will you be more comfortable and look better, but you'll be allowed on the course. That's right, there are what-to-wear rules that you'll need to adhere to if you want to get admitted onto the greens of most courses. Some items you'll have to wear to be allowed to play and others will be more about your comfort. Rules for what-to-wear are as much about etiquette, respect for the game, as they are about dress code.

Shirts

Collared shirts are considered appropriate golf apparel. Knits in the polo style are especially popular. A knit fabric allows for breathability and the ability to move freely and easily. Many shirts have brand name logos on one side of the upper chest. Brights and pastels are quite popular on the course, perhaps to align with all the lush green grass and blue skies, or perhaps just a matter of style. Neutral colors such as tans, whites, and beiges work well, too.

Pants

A golfer can wear either shorts or long pants, depending on the weather and his or her personal preference. They can't be just any shorts or pants, however, but more like short or long dress slacks with a bit of an ironed crease. Denim jeans are usually no-no's on the courses, especially upscale or private courses. Pants and shorts should be hemmed, not frayed or cuffed. Cuffs tend to gather dirt and sand, should your ball wind up in a sand trap. Belts are often worn with both shorts and slacks; and pockets are important for carrying items like your cell phone, pencil, and tees.

Shoes

An important part of your golf apparel will be your shoes. Select an exceptionally made shoe that fits properly. Shoes come in a variety of styles and fabrics including canvas and leather. Running shoes and sandals are not proper footwear and won't usually be allowed on the course. There are women's slip-ons, however, that are specifically designed for golfing.

Accessories

Some accessories to your golf apparel include hats, socks, sunglasses, jackets, and vests. Hats are a must to keep your face, neck, and ears out of the sun. You can wear a wide brimmed straw hat or one made from sun-safe materials in order to protect your skin. Socks can be sporty so you don't get so much of the golfers' tan or they can be classic mid-calf styles. Some golfers are proud of their odd tans! Sunglasses are important to protect your vision. Jackets and vests keep you warmer during chilly weather.

Golf apparel not only makes you more comfortable and good looking on the course. It also gets you onto the green. Dress code for golfers is about etiquette, respect for the game, and your own personal style.

The right golf apparel can help you feel more comfortable while you play. Learn more by visiting: http://www.carlsgolfland.com.
