The art and science of building relationships between an organization and its prime public is named as Public Relations. Its techniques have the ability to take any technology from darkness to limelight. It creates such a visibility which generates maximum deal flow. Most of today’s technologies rely on Technology PR agencies for public awareness and support. If the value of technologies is misunderstood by people, entities will have to fight for support and sustenance. Budget cut, elimination of jobs and many such negative issues might come up. The Public Relations campaigns have the capability to turn things into favorable actions and the PR executives are advised to tactfully put their thoughts and words into someone else’s mind. For instance if a prominent technology firm wants to declare their technological breakthrough, it can do it openly in her own name. But it will gain more mileage and limelight if a group of experts from a tech PR firm with alliance with the media will publicly promote the new development. The PR firm will incorporate the benefits and the characteristics of the product making it more attention-grabbing to the potential customers which might not be possible in a traditional way. It can also promote the desired outcome of the company asserting to stand for the public interest. Media advocacy mostly involves an organization or a group of people who works on supporting a particular viewpoint. It is the process of an organization working with the media to influence the potential audience by creating a certain craze or hype amongst them. A good media advocacy makes sure that the subject matter includes a public outlook, pays importance to the social, economic and cultural aspects and stresses in public participation and empowerment in the promotion. A PR campaigns demands the right combination of preparation and opportunity in the tactical use of mass media to start an initiative. Having everything systematically planned before the commencement of the campaign is very crucial as media works for itself and sometimes you have no control over them. There are certain techniques often used by media advocates to create the technological, scientific and academic information more understandable to the common public. Some of these techniques are enlisted below. The first is localization. It presents the numbers and statistics in such a way that the public and media of any particular community can easily relate to them. Localization in itself means to make things local so that the people of a definite region can understand and do not feel alienated. The second is relativity, which compares the effect of one problem to another, usually when the problem is more dramatic. The third is the public policy effects which demonstrate the potential effect of the public policies in the conference. No matter whatever technique is used the goal is to make the message understandable and meaningful so as the audience can comprehend, support and utilize. Regardless of the methods used, success can be expected if it is a strategically planned effort. The game plan is to develop the strategy in such a way that it influences and creates a public awareness that helps the organization in achieving its goals and advancement of its technology.
