Every season Barbour releases a new range of Barbour jackets for men and women, and this season it seems that they have more on offer than ever. The ladies Cedar Trenchis new to Barbour jackets for this season; a reversible double breasted trench coat it comes in a choice of Navy or Dark Pearl as the outer colour, with a Barbour Tartan lining as the reversible option. Made from a polyester PU laminate it is great for light summer showers, and when worn looks like a classic trench coat, with a hint of the tartan detail adding a nice, eye-catching touch. Worn on the reverse and you will stand out from the crowd with the full Barbour tartan on display. Unlike some other Barbour jackets, the Cedar Trench is machine washable at 30°c, allowing you to keep it looking as good as new for longer. New for men this season is the Fieldstack jacket which is a medium length three pocket jacket. Features such as the stowaway hood, drawcord waist and studded cuff adjusters make this jacket versatile and great for days where the weather might turn. The tartan lining adds a touch of colour and style, and the Fieldstack, much like the Cedar Trench, is made from a polyamide PU laminate and is machine washable at 30°c. The two large front pockets have press stud fastenings, and there is a horizontal zipped chest pocket. Another new addition to Barbour jackets is the Smartfit for men; a medium length jacket with two diagonal flap pockets, a two way zip under a studded front and a cotton Barbour tartan lining. There is cord detailing on the inner collar and cuffs which can be turned to reveal this when worn. The jacket has a lightweight feel, made from 100% cotton, and has been cut with a relaxed fit, to allow for layering underneath. Polyamide lines the sleeves which is a hardwearing and durable material. This jacket is machine washable at 40°c and is a great summer piece to add to your wardrobe. Barbour has made quite an effort to produce more casual jackets this season which fall outside of the wax or quilted categories they are so well known for. This is great for warmer months when wax may be too warm, and also shows they want to reach a wider market for their products outside of the traditional Barbour wearer. Barbour’s interest in the equestrian field has led to an association with the Barbour tartan Team since 2002. New for this season are a range of jackets and polo shirts with corresponding colours and a new wreath logo to signify this relationship. The Barbour Ladies Jackets style cut is most notably used on the Flyweight Ladies Jackets and Ladies Jackets Polarquilt jackets, which are both quilted jackets, with one for spring summer, and the other suited to autumn winter. However, this Barbour Cavalry design isn’t just found in the world of quilted jackets, it has also been used to inspire other jackets – most noticeably the Ferndown jacket which is a lightweight wax jacket for ladies.
