Do you know the difference between Visa and MasterCards? Most people have heard of both companies, and they're familiar with the Visa Rewards cards and prepaid MasterCard - two of the most popular cards. However, most of us have no idea what the difference is between these two cards. If you're going to look into getting a credit card, it may be a good idea to find out which is the better of the two. Visa and MasterCards are both excellent, and they are far more widely accepted than American Express and Discover Cards - the two main competitors to the big credit card companies. If you are traveling, you will find that almost every credit card-accepting establishment in the world will accept both Visa and MasterCards, while not as many will accept AmEx and Discover. For this reason, most banks use one of the two companies. A survey was conducted recently, and it was discovered that: " 72% of all online retailers (people selling via the internet) accept all of the main credit cards. This includes Discovery, American Express, VISA, and MasterCard. " Almost 10% of online retailers will only accept Visa and Master Card. " More than 10% of retailers will accept American Express along with Visa and MasterCard. " Almost 8% of online retailers will accept Discover cards along with MasterCard and Visa. Interestingly enough, Sams Club will only accept MasterCard - not Visa; Dollar General will only accept Visa - not MasterCards. Costco will accept neither Visa nor MasterCard, but they will only accept American Express. As you can see, there are very few places where VISA and MasterCards are not accepted, and you will do well to look into getting one of these two. Your bank will automatically issue you a card from one of these two credit card companies, whichever they have the arrangement with. You'll be easily able to access your funds from pretty much anywhere, and you'll benefit from owning a credit card. The downside of using a credit card - regardless of the company it comes from - is that you may be likely to spend more money than you want. It has been proven that people spending with their credit and debit cards will spend more than those that spend cash, as they don't see what they are spending. All they see is numbers on a computer screen, and it's easier to spend when you don't see the results. If you need to work on saving money, it's a good idea to look into getting a First Premier Bank prepaid MasterCard. You'll be able to transfer a set amount of money into your prepaid MasterCard account, and that is the money you'll have to spend on your weekend trip, your business visit, your extended vacation, or your shopping trip to the mall. If you have problems with spending your money, it's a good idea to go with a prepaid Master Card, as you'll be able to limit the amount that you are able to spend! For this reason pre paid master cards, most banks use mastercard prepaid debit card bone of the two companies.
