Best things to do in Boston

Travel & Tourism
Flights to Boston City or on particular routes like from Columbia to Boston

">A visit to the city of Boston will certainly be an educational one. This is a city composed of mostly very well educated citizens, historical buildings, and clean streets. Boasting a population of just over half of a million, it still has a small town feel when compared to other metropolis of similar population. Visiting Boston is easy; flights from New York, Chicago, or Columbia to Boston are scheduled daily. It is one of the oldest and most recognizable cities in the United States. With plenty of places to visit, there are more than a few must see locations recommended for your visit to Boston. A tour de force will include: Fenway Park. This is the home of the Red Sox baseball team. Opened its doors in 1912; the baseball park has a special place in the hearts of the Bostonians. The team has a cult following and it is very hard to get tickets as they sell out almost immediately. Freedom Trail This is a three mile sightseeing tour of the city’s most relevant historic landmarks. The Paul Revere house, the site of the Boston Massacre, and Bunker Hill Monument are among the many stops in the tour. There are guided tours available for a more relaxed and informative experience; you can also visit TheFreedommTrail.org for a free map. New England Holocaust Museum Constructed in 1995, it features glass towers etched in glass with 6 million numbers representing the victims of the Holocaust. The towers were built on top of street grates; at night they give the deceptive appearance of movement when the steam travels up the towers. Entrance to the museum is free. Old North Church The historical church was Paul Reveres last stop before heading to Lexington. He gave orders and had the church sexton climb up the steeple and wave two lanterns in order to warn about the incoming British troops. The church has the oldest continuously running clock in the country. Boston Common and Public Garden Always has been an open space since pre-revolutionary war times. It served as a British camp. And later as a burial site for many fallen soldiers of the Battle of Bunker Hill. Located in the middle of the city, it has a pond and many trails making it ideal for various events during the year. Museum of Fine Art and Children’s Museum You will not miss the gigantic milk bottle in front of the Children’s Museum. This is a place to explore and interaction designed for the little ones. The Museum of Fine Art is one of the best in the country. It features the largest collection of American Art , along with impressive Japanese and Chinese art in the Asian pavilions. New England Aquarium With a gigantic four story high main tank, this aquarium is one of the most visited in the northeast. The main tank contains a coral reef replica along with countless species living in it. There is a new IMAX theater and veterinary stations where the vets can be watch treating and taking care of injured animals. Other interesting places to visit include: The Faneuil Hall, the famous Samuel Adams brewery, Isabella Stewart garden and Museum, the Museum of Science and there are plenty of historic streets with cobblestones and historical houses to see. Your visit will certainly be very memorable.
