Comparable To Switzerland, Kausani Sightseeing Can Be Relaxing In The Splendour Of Hill Station

Business
Set up spectacularly on a ridge in the Himalayan valley, Kausani is one of the less crowded hill stations of India, in the state of Uttarakhand. With the Someshwar valley on one side and Katyuri Baijnath valley on the other side, it is possible to have a direct view of the Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Nandakot, Trishul, etc, with a 300 kms wide panoramic view. Due to such visuals, Kausani’s beauty is further enhanced, aptly described by Mahatma Gandhi as the Switzerland of India, probably due to similarity in the landscape. Having been established probably in the 17th century, the hill station of Kausani has many places to visit and is therefore offering Kausani sightseeing options for the tourists from India and abroad. Lots of ashrams are found in the area, where the primary livelihood is agriculture and tourism is flourishing the economy in recent years.

• Someshwar is a small town near Kausani, which consists of a temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. It was established in the 17th century by found of the Chand dynasty, and is near to the Someshwar valley. This Shiva temple is having much significance for the local people and lots of festivals are associated with it.

• Anasakti Ashram is important among the places to visit in Kausani, which is believed to have been visited by Mahatma Gandhi, who penned a treatise on Anashkti yog. He stayed on for a while and thereby the name of this ashram is also Gandhi Ashram. In the present day, it has been converted into a research cum study centre. A part of the ashram still has about 24 rooms for the students, who wish to do research and study Anashkti yog.

• While on Kausani sightseeing, tourists can rarely miss out the large Kausani Tea Estate, which is about 5 kms from the town. It is so large that it covers about 208 hectares, which is now being developed as the major tea supplier for the whole state and from where the Giria’s Uttarakhand tea is produced. It is one of the tea plantations, which is away from the conventional tea gardens and produces organic high flavoured tea, which exports its produce to many countries. Tourists on Kausani sightseeing tours can go through the entire tea manufacturing process, with the help of a guide.

• Lakshmi Ashram was established by Catherine Hillman in 1948, popularly known as Sarlaben, the disciple of Mahatma Gandhi. It is also known as Sarla Ashram, a popular educational institution, known as Gandhian Basic Institute of Education for girls, which is a boarding school. Besides studies, the ashram teaches variety of activities related to home management to the girls. Gandhi had also stayed in this ashram during his stay in Kausani.

• Among the various Places to visit in Kausani, is the place where Sumitranandan Pant, the famous Indian poet was born. Presently, this has been converted into a gallery, where his original works and manuscripts are displayed. Plenty of articles are also there, which were used in his family and by him. There are awards, letters, English and Hindi books and literature enthusiasts can find these quite interesting. A poetry symposium is organised every year, during the birth anniversary of this great poet.

It is quite beautiful for the tourists to be in the Kausani hill station due to its peace and secluded nature, although many tourists are coming in recent years. The location is also quite picturesque, which makes it further more interesting for the visitors coming for Kausani sightseeing tours. Some temples, ashrams and the tea garden, along with the views of the Himalayan ranges, Kausani is a great sightseeing place for the tourists, among the hill stations in India.
