Few Cities In India Provide Artistic And Cultural Heritages As The Places To Visit In Lucknow

Business
Although, Lucknow has been in mention in the scriptures since the time of Ramayana, the most important phase of this city was seen during the time of the mughals and nawabs. Presently, flourishing as a major metro city of India, it has become the hub for educational institutions, healthcare sector, IT, biotechnology, research and industries. With a blend of cultural and ancestral heritage, along with the modernised city, Lucknow sightseeing can be a fulfilling experience. River Gomti passes through the town of Lucknow and divided it into two different sections. Well known for the artistic expressions by lots of accomplished singers and poets, Lucknow was the centre of cultural, political, artistic and literary revolutions in the pre independence era, which seems to be still reverberating in form of various mehfils, shero-shayaris, qawwalis, ghazal shows and much more. In terms of monuments and places to visit in Lucknow, this city is almost incomparable to any other in India.

• The Residency can make the tourists on Lucknow sightseeing get awestruck by the largesse of the Nawabs of Lucknow. This large complex was constructed as a group of buildings for the British Resident General during the time of Nawab of Awadh in 1800 AD. During Sepoy Mutiny, this structure was targeted by the revolutionaries and many British officials had to take shelter in the Residency. Presently, the complex is in a dilapidated condition and serves as a place for a museum, observatory, government office, tomb of Nawaab Saadat Ali Khan, who was the first Nawaab of Lucknow and Kaisarbagh Palace.

• Tourists, who are going for the Lucknow sightseeing tours, will never miss out the name of Aminabad, which is a centre for the sale of various fashion items, including the specialities of Lucknow, such as chikan work and zardori. Besides, ladies wear from chikan and jewellery items are available in this particular market complex, which is supposed to exist from the times of the Nawaabs. Proof of its long duration of existence is received from the small lanes and bylanes and the multitude of shops, selling these particular items and are even thronged by tourists.

• Bada Imambara was built in 1784 by Asaf-ud-Daula, one of the famous Nawabs of Lucknow. This structure depicts the Shia group of Muslims, and was constructed with nawabi architecture. This is one example of a building in Lucknow, which doesn’t have any European influence. The Bada Imambara complex is made up of a number of structures such as Bhool Bhulaiya, step well, bore well, Bowli and Asfi Mosque. From the Imambara, there is a long passage way, which goes on up to the banks of the river Gomti. It is counted as one of the largest arched structures in the world, without any beams supporting the building. Above the Imambara is the construction with 3-dimensional labyrinth, with a total of 489 identical doors, making the Bhool Bhulaiya as an important centre of Lucknow sightseeing.

• Chattar Manzil is the name of the monument with an umbrella shaped dome, which was constructed by the Nawabs of lucknow. Plenty of underground rooms are found in this monument, with the present structure being occupied by Central Drug Research Institute.

• Moti Mahal is located at the banks of River Gomti near Hazratganj. It is also referred to as the pearl palace, due named because of the white building. The purpose of the building was to allow the family of the nawaabs to watch the animal fights, which were held by the side of the river. It can also be used for birdwatching, because of the citadel like structure. The lawn of Moti Mahal is presently used by various organisers for parties, exhibitions and marriage functions.

Lucknow is one of the oldest cities in the country and has its own culture and heritage, renowned all over India as well as abroad. Places to visit in Lucknow is a testimony to the diversity of the thinking of the medieval period and the modernisation which could be done. There are parks for children as well as for adults, heritage sites, buildings and constructions and party places, which are giving a stiff competition to the old concepts of Lucknow.
