When it comes to itinerant testing, security testing against real-world risks can only be done by jogging the application, including the interactions among its various parts in the configuration. Otherwise, the testing is purely theoretical. How the different parts of an application work together can generate something bigger than how they function separately. As such, attackers take advantage of this behaviour, much to the chagrin of the security teams that handle these applications. Given user expectations on mobile of an always-on, always-connected experience where their apps will perform, portable testing must run on actual mobile devices jogging tests in actual world conditions. Different carriers, network strength, OS versions, firmware, orientation & available memory can all impact a mobile apps performance. Using an emulator or simulator for cell phone testing won’t cut it. How can enterprises mitigate these limitations? Using technologies such as mobile testing & cloud monitoring, enterprises can greatly reduce the amount of time needed to identify & repair the root cause of most performance issues. Organizations can thus deploy & monitor their mobile & cloud apps with confidence, with no limitations in terms of geography.
