Every company must have a strategic reward system that addresses the employees in four main areas - compensation, extra benefits, recognition & appreciation. Many organizations do have a reward system in place; however they have a twofold problem. Performance can be recognized easily and rewarded as it is linked directly with the goals set for the employees and final result they achieve. - Time – punctuality and desire to work late if needed to get things done - Thinking out of the box – thinking new ideas on completing work effectively and efficiently - Problem solving attitude – do employees find innovative ways to tackle day-to-day problems or do they need some prodding to stop cribbing and start working
You can think of various other behaviours that affect your company’s overall performance like team building, coordinating and leadership qualities.
Although rarely thought about recognition and appreciation are two strong pillars of the winning reward system. Employee recognition plaques and trophies are low-cost high return investment that no organization should ignore.
