The process of buying new flooring, whether it's carpet, hardwood, tile, or whatever, is generally just plain fun. You are, after all, improving your environment, beautifying your home, feathering your nest – with nice bright new feathers. It is, in short, an uplifting experience, like buying new shoes or watching your garden bloom.
But it isn't the end. Once bought, your new floor (or floorcovering) must be installed in your home, and that has the potential to be – well, whatever is the opposite of fun.
Every installation has its unique aspects, depending on such things as your floor plan, the type and condition of your existing floor, the age of your house, etc. But every installation also has one thing in common: it can only be as good as the people doing the installing. So naturally you want to know as much about them as possible before they even start.
So I'd like to tell you about The Floor Store's installation department.
First, our installers are Floor Store employees, not independent contractors. What's wrong with contractors? Nothing at all – except that contractors hire on the basis of availability, so the people they use on any particular job may or may not have the specific expertise or training you'd want.
The Floor Store's installers are trained and certified, and they undergo continuous education and re-testing, for all methods and all surfaces. They are professionals, and they know their craft.
Also, independent contractors must of course be licensed, but they may or may not carry liability or workmen's comp insurance. Floor Store installers are fully bonded and insured, so there is no risk of liability to the homeowner – which is you.
Keep in mind too that sub-contractors answer to the contractor, but the contractor answers only to himself. If you discover any problem with your installation after he's gone – well, he's gone. Our installers answer to us, and you can be sure we are never gone.
