For the Mauritian tourist market this year is not considered to be as expedient because of the industrial crisis that impacts on the developed nations from where the major travelers are coming. Another trouble that the industry is facing is the brutal competitions among the tour operators. They have all got to reduce their profits exclusively for the sake to keep the operation of their business rather than closing their doors. This year, the Bank of Mauritius provides Rs forty bill for tourism money, representing an increase of virtually Rs five bln over the year before. Nonetheless the emergency of the EU Buck could project this income downward. In the opinion of the MTPA, Q2 saw 189,180 travelers landing in Mauritius, a figure higher than in 2009. The coming of visitors during June is in the opinion of the seasonal trend of every year and that's still not the top season. A tour operator has reported a load factor not surpassing fifty percent in Aug. This is partially down to the fact that many of the travelers have selected minimal cost accommodation like houses, guesthouses, villas and tiny cottage rather than high class and dear hostels. In Q1 of 2010, the rate of booking of hotel rooms was 67%, against 63% in first quarter 2009 and 79% in Q1 of 2008. After a drop of 16% in 2009, the rate of hostels booking rose again in 2010. The Bank of Mauritius tourism bills guest mated Rs 3012 million in May 2010 compared with Rs 2422 million in May 2009, representing an increase of 24%. 249 971 travelers visited Mauritius in quarter 1 of 2010, compared against 232,908 in 2009, creating Rs 2.4 million overnight stays and Rs eleven bill in tourism spending. Work in the tourism sector has increased gradually from 2005 to 2008, from 25,377 to 28,753. In 2009, work in tourism dropped to 26,922 thanks to the business crisis. The hotel facilities include 105 local hostels listed in March, representing a capacity of 11,564 rooms and 23,547 beds. Forty five percent of the park is composed of massive hostels with an overall total of 47 conglomerates. Of the 105 hostels, 5 weren't operational in March for restoration.
