Employment contracts can be very simple or very complicated. It depends mostly how you do it for yourself. A thing that many people seem to underestimate and even neglect is the fact that you need to have an employer and an employee to have an employment contract. Sometimes, it is better to use the services of a self-employed expert (lawyer, dentist, etc.). Rarely, you may even need to hire a small company. In other words, be sure that you need an employee first. The next hard step is to decide what kind of contract you need. Everything is fine when you know for what you need the employer. All you need is to state it in the contract. There are different types of employment contracts. Basically, you have the following types of employment contracts: permanent, fixed, temporary, project. We need to say a few words about each of them. A permanent contract is used when an employee is hired on a permanent basis. A temporary contract is used when more work is expected for a certain amount of time but it is not sure for how long. It may be a few months, a few weeks and even a few days. You should absolutely state that the contract can be terminated by the employer in case there is not enough work. The reason for this contract is mainly to deal with peak work. A fixed contract is almost like the permanent with the only difference that it has a predetermined start and end date. The relationship between an employee and an employer ends after the end date. The project contract serves well when you have a project to finish but you have no idea how long it will last. The employment ends when the project is completed. It is essential to provide incentives so that the employee does not delay the project deliberately. Also be sure to include the terms how you can terminate a contract when an employee does not perform their duties. Sometimes, it is very likely that you might need more than one type of employment contracts in your company. You may even need more contracts for one type of work. A very good example is the seasonal workers who are hired in the summer. Many businesses have a season peak when they need more employers. To hire so many people permanently does not make sense and companies normally hire seasonal workers on a temporary basis. The most important thing is that you need to have a contract that serves your needs and not the opposite. Do not adjust your needs so that you have a contract that you do not need. If you need someone only on Wednesday every week for 10 hours from 8 to 18, do not make a full-time employment contract for them. Make instead a part-time contract stating that the employee will work the hours you need them on the day you need them.
