It’s almost that time of year again when everyone starts to jet off on their summer holidays. And with the promise of great weather, relaxation, and no stress hanging temptingly in the air, it’s hard to not get at least a little bit excited. Of course, with any summer holiday comes the chore of packing, and more importantly, what to take. Who knows what the weather will be like once you get there. Will one bikini suffice? And how on earth are you going to keep the kids occupied for a couple of weeks without any television or computers? Before you start to panic, do not worry, because I have compiled the ultimate summer holiday checklist to ensure that you do not leave anything important at home this summer. Clothes First and foremost, you’ll need to pack your outfit choices for the holiday. This should include the following items: - One outfit for each day plus one outfit for each evening (if you plan to dress up and go out) - Swimming costume and towel to sunbathe on - One jumper (in case the evenings are chilly) - Underwear (one per day plus extra for emergency) - Socks (again one pair per day – if you plan to wear shoes or trainers) - Pyjamas (loose cotton will be best for hot places) - Shoes (flip flops, trainers, smart evening shoes) Toiletries - Shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, toothpaste, toothbrush, hairbrush - Sun cream and after sun (very important as you don’t want to burn) Added Extras Okay so now comes the fun part – the added extras. These are the little extra bits and bobs that will turn your holiday from average to amazing. - Book (use your holiday to catch up on some long lost reading. Whether it’s a book by your favourite author or someone new, there’s nothing more relaxing than sitting by the pool, cocktails on call and book in hand.) - Camera (how else are you going to boast about what an awesome time you’re having? Make sure you take plenty of photos, from action shots of people dive bombing the pool to close ups of the beautiful scenery. And then remember to put them on social media sites when you get home!) - Sweets (okay so they won’t necessarily improve your holiday but they will keep kids occupied during the long wait at the airport. They’ll also get rid of in-flight hunger pangs so make sure you have some in your handbag.) Have a great holiday this summer with discounted books from The Book People. You’ll find the book stores online.
