Patio fountains are usually small, self-contained water features, typically set up in a ceramic pot. The aim is to bring the soothing calm of water onto the patio, without the all-out drama of larger garden fountains. Patio water fountains can incorporate water plants, statues and even fish. Most fountains for patios will suit a 100-gallon-per-hour water pump. Instructions as follows: Firstly, seal drainage holes on the bottom of the ceramic tub--if there are any holes--with the silicone sealant. Let dry. Then position the tub where you want it on your patio. Secondly, place the pump inside the bottom of the ceramic tub. Run the power cord up the back of the ceramic bathtub, and attach the pump hose to the hose nozzle. Switch the power button to "On" on the pump, but do not plug it in yet. Thirdly, fill your small plant pot with sand, then stand a thick length of bamboo upright in the sand. Place it in the bottom of the ceramic tub, and mark the bamboo at around 6 or 7 inches above the rim of the tub, after a node joint. Remove the bamboo from the plant pot, and cut the bamboo off with the saw at the point marked. Fourthly, cut a 5-inch piece of hollow, 1-inch-diameter bamboo for use as the fountain spout. Fifthly, drill a hole near the bottom of the bamboo piece that's higher than the sand level in the flower pot; make the hole a little larger than the width of the pump hose. Drill a second hole around 2 inches from the top of the bamboo; make it 1 inch wide to fit the small bamboo fountain spout. Sixthly, insert the bottom of the long bamboo piece firmly back in the sand pot, and place the pot back in the ceramic tub by the pump. Seventhly, thread the pump hose up through the bottom side hole of the bamboo, out the top hole and into the small bamboo fountain spout. Stick the fountain spout into the drilled hole, and secure it there with silicone sealant. Let dry. Eighthly, fill the bottom of the ceramic pot with smooth rocks to obscure the pump and plastic container. Place any water plants you want in the fountain on the rocks, so that the tops come out above the tub stone walls. Ninthly, fill the tub with water, right to the top, then plug your pump in and switch the power on at the wall. The water will flow out of the bamboo fountain spout back into the pond. Tips & Warnings Instead of bamboo, you can buy a commercially available fountain top. If you want fish in the fountain, buy a pump that has a filter as well. Finally, let me have a conclusion.
