Slate floors are durable, slip-resistant and natural, giving any room a warm rustic look. Slate floors consist of a series of tiles set securely with mortar so that they last decades. These tiles vary in thickness but are generally thicker than other flooring tile types, making them difficult to cut with hand-held tools. Using a wet tile saw, however, you can make quick work of them and proceed immediately to laying a slate floor that you can enjoy for years. Instructions as floors: Firstly, set up a wet tile saw on a stable surface near your work area. Rent a tile saw from a local home improvement store or equipment rental shop. Fill the reservoir with water, and make sure the saw is equipped with a wet diamond blade. Plug the saw into an outlet and test that the blade is turning unimpeded. Secondly, put on your safety gear, which should include safety goggles and work gloves to protect against any flying stone chips. Thirdly, score the top of the slate tile with a glass cutter to mark the cutting line and place the tile onto the tile platform on the saw with the cutting line aligned with the saw blade. Fourthly, turn on the saw, and make sure the water is running along the blade to prevent the blade from overheating. Wet the surface of the tile. Push the tile platform towards the saw, taking care to keep your hands away from the blade's path. Move the tile slowly through the blade, pushing gently on the platform. The blade will do all the work of cutting the slate tile. Turn the saw off and remove the cut tile after completion. Fifthly, create an inside curved cut in the slate tile by using angle cuts to remove the unwanted material. Mark the curve onto the tile, and make a right-angled cut every ½ inch through the unwanted material to the curved line. Use tile nippers to grasp the tile at the ends of the cuts at the curve, like pliers, and snap off the smaller pieces of tile. Clean up the ragged edge by tilting the front edge of the tile up relative to the blade and shaving the end of the tile in small pieces until you have a smooth curve. Sixthly, trim slivers from the tile with the aid of a scrap slate tile piece. Place the scrap tile butted against the edge of the tile you wish to trim so that you align the trim line with the blade. Push both tiles through the blade. Tips & Warnings If the tile sparks while cutting, add more water to the reservoir. Finally, let me have a short conclusion.
