The different towns throughout the delightful Mediterranean island of Menorca host their own respective night markets, where you can buy almost anything at a great bargain—from food to handicraft to rare antique finds. If you've arrived on the island for a stay in a Bartle Holidays villa, there is no end of wonderful shopping opportunities to discover. The following are just some of the most sought-after evening markets on the island. Ferreries Every Friday evening, the historical town of Ferreries - the island’s highest town, nestled amid valleys and hills - hosts a night market. It won't be too hard to get to from any Bartle Holidays villa as long as you have a car. Head over to the old part of Ferreries and you’ll find the streets lined with stalls selling a diversity of products, from ceramic goods, shoes, furniture, jewellery, and even local produce. In the evening, shopping in this town becomes even livelier, with live musical performances and other forms of entertainment to delight the children. Aside from the night market, the town itself is located at a unique vantage point. Alaior The town of Alaior is among Menorca’s most important centres of industry and commerce. Famous for the quality of its shoes and its exquisite local cheese, by day, it is easy to get lost in its maze of narrow streets and whitewashed buildings and the lovely town has plenty to offer at night, too. Every Wednesday evening during the summer months, the town’s major streets (Calle Ramal, Calle major, and Calle Forn) are lined with dozens of stalls selling handicrafts, goods made of leather and cotton, jewellery, and other treasures to get your hands on. Shopping is made much more enjoyable with the on-site entertainment and there are live bands playing different musical genres, from jazz to funk, pop and rock. Es Migjorn Gran The town of Es Migjorn, located a few kilometres from the southern coast, has retained its quaint charm and rustic appeal. Obviously, because it is relatively more remote than the more popular towns, like Alaior, it is much less ‘touristy’ than the others. But that doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy what the town has to offer by way of its unique market. If you’re on the island staying in a Bartle Holidays villa, take the opportunity for visit. You'll be delighted to discover the seemingly sleepy town actually comes alive at night! The locals love doing their business in the evening when it is definitely cooler and the main streets of the town host an evening artisans market, where you can find great specimens of local handicrafts and souvenirs. There are also plenty of local dining places specialising in tapas and other authentic Menorcan cuisine open to accommodate shopping-induced appetites.
