According to The Center for American Progress, a left-leaning think tank legalizing undocumented migrants will boost the GDP of $832 billion dollars to $1.4 trillion dollars if the time frame for citizenship is considered and new jobs are created incomes raised. The Heritage Foundation slams that immigrants gaining legal status would take away $9.4 trillion dollars in government benefits and services while they pay only $3.1 trillion dollars in taxes. Some sociologists argue that every time in the past when illegal immigrants are legalized that leads to tremendous increases in their productivity. They start producing more, earning more, paying much more in taxes. They pay more in taxes because they earn more income but when legalized and come above ground they start declaring their income, there will be a tremendous increase in the declared income of individuals.
