While most car manufacturers struggle to invent the latest and most inventive gadgets to appeal to consumers and increase sales, a growing number of automobile enthusiasts are becoming more and more interested in those unique, reliable, and aged models of yesteryear. Florida classic car insurance is not the same as most auto insurance policies. In fact, the two are different in a number of ways. Many of them have invested a significant portion of their time and their resources in what is generally considered a very expensive pastime. Due to the lofty investment, the rarity of many older vehicles, and the cost to repair or replace them, these owners can see the need to protect their valuable commodities when it comes to the important decision of getting the right classic car insurance policy, perhaps the most important issue of all. What defines the term, "classic"? Most insurance companies define classic cars as antique, vintage or collector vehicles that are at least 15 to 25 years old, in good or better condition, used only as a second vehicle that is stored in a garage or on private land, and driven and enjoyed for appearance and pleasure, rather than function. By the time a car is old enough to be considered "classic" by insurers, it has usually exceeded its design life by a considerable margin. (Most cars are built to last 10-15 years.) Therefore, there is a greater likelihood that it may take significant maintenance to keep it running, and parts may be out-of-date and difficult to find when needed. This is what makes Florida classic car insurance slightly more expensive than a standard auto policy. Although some regular auto insurance companies also insure classic cars, there are companies that specialize in providing the right coverage level for these particular vehicles at a reasonable price.
