In this day and age, information and its effective analysis is perhaps the most powerful tool available to mankind to have an edge in whatever sphere they are engaged. Once the document is filled up it is handed over to the relevant persons and then they turn the information into numbers which gives a clear picture of the public’s opinion on the subject. However, the entire landscape of conducting a survey got a massive makeover with the establishment of the internet and its widespread use as the online survey and Online Poll came into existence. This meant that the whole process of data collection and the operation of integrating those data into figures became a much faster task as it could all be done online at the click of a mouse. These polls have been in existence right from the time the internet was only a few years old and people realized the possibilities of the internet as a tool that could speed up the gathering and analysis of information at far more superior speeds. The most important thing about a survey that is conducted online is that the surveys do not need to be posted to the people via traditional methods but they can be sent to the recipients’ e-mail addresses which speeds up the process appreciably. This way the whole survey can be conducted in a fraction of a time as compared to the amount of time it used to take earlier. Nowadays, an online poll is intimately linked with election news and it is one of the most popular tools used by online news outlets to provide facts and figures regarding the chances of different candidates during the election. Most of the online news channels have different polls lined up in their websites in which people can participate and cast their opinions by the single click of a mouse. These figures are updated every second as and when people keep passing on their opinion regarding a particular topic and it gets even more popular during elections. The best part about the whole thing is that people from all over the world can participate in these polls as long as they have access to the internet. So, an expatriate who wishes to know about the possible drift in the elections taking place in his country of origin might log in to one of the news websites and get the election news along with the opinions that the people have regarding the different candidates.
