Samsung was the primary Android phone maker to create a stab at tablets. Released truly, the Galaxy Tab was some sort of 7-inch slate that cost in excess of the bigger and better apple ipad tablet. But Samsung kept chipping absent, making tablets in all sizes and heights, and is now gaining with Apple’s shrinking lead. How may Samsung’s latest – the Galaxy Tab 3 7. 0 – compare towards Google/Asus Nexus 7? It’s hardly ever that two tablets with equivalent screen sizes have this big of any difference in overall size. Even so the Galaxy Tab 3’s smaller bezel causes it to become about six percent shorter and eight percent narrower versus Nexus 7. Both tablets usually are rocking plastic chassis. The Tab’s base is smoother, and it has a removable battery cover. The Nexus 7’s rear incorporates a grippy texture to it, in addition to can’t (easily) possibly be opened. As we’ll soon view, the 7-inch Tab 3 possesses some pretty middle-of-the-road components. But the one thing it can hang its do not lik on is its weight. It is one light tablet. The Nexus 7 is growing a little long in this tooth, and could soon be replaced by way of newer Google mini-tablet. Its present reflects that, with pretty not very good resolution (by 2013 expectations). But the Galaxy Tab 3 – the latest tablet – manages to get the best of it. And not in an excellent way. Its 1024 x 600 image resolution is pretty underwhelming, and will be relatively fuzzy. The Tab 3 activities a mystery processor, but we truly do know that it’s a dual center chip clocked at 1. 3 GHz. The Nexus 7’s Tegra 3 is usually a known quantity and will quite definitely be faster than whatever mid-grade processor Samsung squeezed into this completely new Galaxy Tab. RAM is all tied up, at 1 GB a place. Nothing special in the storage department with the Tab either. But at least it offers a microSD slot. It may make that 8 GB go lots farther – adding up to an extra 64 GB. The Wi-Fi only version on the Galaxy Tab 3 starts shipment in May. In June, this mobile data version starts shipment... but forget LTE. Like this Nexus 7, it maxes out at HSPA+ 7 speeds (that typically suggests between 4-8 Mbps in real life speeds). Well, it isn’t considerably, but the Galaxy Tab 3 does provide rear camera. Its 3 megapixels might supply you with some flashbacks to the phone you owned just last year, but it’s more of some sort of rear camera than you’ll get on the Nexus 7. There probably isn’t much to stress about here. Crappy display + mid-range cpu + decent sized battery should mean an abundance of uptime for the Tab 3. Ditto with the Nexus 7, only with better speed as well as a better (but not accurately mind-blowing) display. Both slates function Android. Samsung gives you its TouchWiz UI slapped number one, but you still get The search engines Play, and all the fun issues that goes along with it. The Nexus 7’s big advantages are so it runs a newer version connected with Android, and it will regularly be more up-to-date than the Tab 3. One of the wonder of running pure Android. So which will you choose? The Nexus 7 or the new Galaxy Tab 3 7. 0? The precise answer is c) none on the above. Wait for the 2nd-gen Nexus 7, that happen to be announced at Google I/O 2013 in a little while. Okay, so maybe that isn’t the response for everyone. But there’s still lots we don’t know about this Tab 3. Specific regional availableness? Price? Actual hands-on time while using the dang thing? These are many mysteries. And by the time we truly do know, there will probably be something significantly better... like, you know, that Nexus 7 2G. Just going in what we know now, it’s tricky to recommend the Galaxy Tab 3. It’s very much mid-range. And since Samsung makes its money 100 percent on hardware (unlike The search engines or Amazon), it’s unlikely we’ll see some ridiculous sub-$200 sale price. Even if it’s cheap, it probably won’t be more cost-effective than other superior tablets which might be either already here or from the pipeline. TianS manages Customer Service for SaleWill.
