Kyocera Communications is a mobile phone and picture phone maker that also sells and services Sanyo cell phones. Not all models of Kyocera phones are GPS-equipped, so be sure to check your phone's specifications. Different models of cell phones have different methods for enabling and using the GPS function. Some phones made by Kyocera -- but branded by other telecommunications companies -- may have different GPS interfaces. The basic setup of GPS is as follows |
Instructions 1 Press the menu button to open the phone's settings. Select "Settings/Tools," then "Settings," "Others" and "Location." Click "OK" again to accept the disclaimer and then select "On" to turn on the GPS. Your phone will communicate with GPS satellites to find your starting location, which will act as the basis of the GPS system's information.
2 Press the menu button at any time to activate the GPS. Choose "Navigation" from the main menu. The first time you use the program you will be asked to authorize the use of "Navigation" on your phone. Select "Yes" and push the confirm button to select. A compass icon will appear on your phone to indicate that GPS is active.
3.Select "Drive To" to input your destination address -- either by typing it directly or by using voice recognition. Highlight "Businesses" and press the confirm button to browse addresses from a list of businesses in your area. Once you've entered an address, you can save it as a favorite to select later.
4 Select "Search" to browse for a destination from a list of categories. You can choose from landmarks, museums, restaurants or hotels, and you can search within each subcategory with the keypad. Enter text into the search form like you would a text message. The phone will auto-complete as you type more letters, and you can select your destination from the list at any time by highlighting it and pressing OK.
5 Select "Maps and Traffic" to see a map of your current surrounding area with updated traffic information. You can use this feature to browse around your area, or just for a point of reference when driving. You can also browse other cities and neighborhoods.
6 Press "OK" after entering or selecting your destination. Like any GPS system, the phone will now show your current and final destination and highlight the best route between them. If driving, attach the phone to a secure device on your dashboard and listen for verbal prompts for directions.
