So you spent the better part of your life trying to figure out the opposite sex and now either you have come to the conclusion you will never figure them out, or you have found the only gal you can understand. Either way congratulations, you have entered into a very select group of men called Grooms. With these simple steps I will help you become a Super-Groom and your Bride will be able to relax that much more. Step one Realize this is the only time you have ever asked someone out and are not expected to plan the day. She is in charge from the moment the ring goes on the finger. It is your responsibility to be her support. You must care about the Wedding planning (even if you don't). She expects you to help pick out the flowers, even if you have never done so in your life. -Remember, have an opinion about everything Wedding related, but also remember that her opinion is better and say things like: "I never saw it that way" or "what would I do without you" Step Two You will need to actually plan a few things, including the Rehearsal Dinner (Traditionally the groom's parents host this event). This Rehearsal dinner is a low-key event held as a "thank you" to your attendants and special family members. It doesn't have to be fancy, but it does have to be well thought out. It will happen after a very long day and it needs to get everybody ready for the Wedding which is usually the next day. Step Three Pick your Best Man and Groomsmen. These are your brothers and buddies. (If you can fit him in, it is always a good idea to include the Brides brother; after the ceremony he will be your brother, too). Make sure they know what is expected of them (they are not to ruin the wedding). Then you get to dress them and yourself in the attire entirely of your choosing (as long as the bride agrees) Step Four Give the Best Man some Bachelor Party Ideas and expressly warn him he may not ruin your Wedding by have a Roman Orgy. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do and you should be clear with your Best Man what is out-of-bounds at the party. Step Five Freak out Step Six Purchase tokens of appreciation for you attendants. These Bridal Party Gifts should be from the heart as a "thank you" to your nearest and dearest friends. It is also a good idea to buy something special for your Bride and give it to her before you separate the night before the Wedding. I think something like Pajamas or jewelry could work, but if it is heartfelt and you consider her feelings first, anything could work Step Seven Freak out again; you are getting married, to the only girl in the world. She will be with you from now on. Remember why you picked her and everything will work out great. Step Eight Make sure you have the marriage license and the blood testing required to be wed. Bring it with you to the church or ceremony site. Put it in you breast pocket. Also make sure you give the bride's ring to the Best Man for safe keeping. Step Nine Plan your Honeymoon. Anywhere you both can relax and enjoy the beginnings of married life. Step Ten Say "I Do" and enjoy the day. Remember these are just the beginning; your bride will help you, just like you will help her. Also remember that the bride's to-do list is closer to 200 and you are getting off easy with these ten things. She loves you and you love her, so enjoy the time you get to spend planning this party, but remember that it is the life you are planning that is far more important.
