Mosaic tile crafts aren't limited to tabletops. Many smaller mosaic crafts take much less time and commitment to complete. These projects can be simple for beginners. However, the same craftscan be made more complex for intermediate or advanced mosaic tile artists by creating a pattern or picture with the tile pieces. Glass Jar Mosaics Recycle glass food jars and bottles for mosaic vases. Choose tiles that match your room's color palette. You don't have to limit yourself to ceramic tiles. Consider broken pottery, broken clay pots, stones, shells, florist marbles, dishes, cups, buttons, beads and other trinkets. Wash and dry your recycled food container. You can place your mosaic pieces randomly or decide on a pattern ahead of time. If your tiles or other pieces are not small enough, put them in an old pillow case and hit them with a mallet to break them up. Use nippers, a tile-cutting tool, to cut mosaic pieces to fit particular areas in your project. Always wear safety glasses when breaking up tile pieces. Use all-purpose craft glue to affix tile pieces to the bottom of the container, the bottom sides of the container and around the top rim. Make sure the edges are even so the tiles don't jut out. Leave spaces between each piece. Fill in the rest of the container surface with tiles. Leave the mosaic to dry overnight. Use grout, which can be purchased in many colors at home improvement stores, to fill in the spaces between tiles. When you are done, gently wipe any excess grout from the top of the tiles. Let the mosaic container dry overnight. Find an old frame with a flat surface--look through the attic or basement, or check yard sales. Paint the sides black, using acrylic paint, house paint or spray paint. Get a mirror to fit inside the frame, the same size as the frame glass. You can find these, precut, at craft stores. Remove the glass from the frame and insert the mirror. Create a mosaic on the top of the frame, starting with the outside and inside edges and making sure no pieces jut out. Follow the same procedures as with the vase project. After the frame has dried overnight, hang it on a wall alone or in a picture grouping. You can make a picture frame with these instructions by keeping the glass and omitting the mirror. Finally, let me have a short conclusion.
