Business Cards contain personal and company affiliation information of a person. These are usually inexpensive and used all over the world. They are used for formal introduction at large social and corporate gatherings frequently. These cards usually contain person’s name, company logo and designation and contact information. These cards were traditionally printed in black. These days, there are many options available for business cards and many people love to show their creativity by using very specific business cards. People like to use artistic impressions and designs that help put their personality perspective in their business cards. Some people use cards that are made from exotic materials such as wood or metal. There are many modern techniques available for the printing of business cards. The modern business cards have evolved in this form and their trend keeps changing dynamically and no one knows for sure that what will be the future form of these introductory purpose business cards. There are two main methods used for printing business cards. These methods are offset printing and digital printing. Offset printing requires preparation and therefore has a fixed starting cost necessary for the preparation of the equipment. Digital printing is the second method whose cost is fixed and it is useful for lower number of prints. Business cards are commonly coated with glossy coatings that give a very smooth surface finish to business cards. Offset printing can be used for UV coatings easily with the coating being used just like an ink unit. These coatings can also used on particular spots. This option gives many design options. Normal digital copier machines can generally print business cards but usually high end specialized Digital presses are used for this purpose these days. The new printers are very capable and can print on very thick paper of 150#. Digital printers of today can now almost produce quality similar to the offset printing method. There are also many other kinds of coatings that are used to increase the pace of manufacturing. Cards are sometimes left wet so that ink on the front of one card transfers to the back of the next card. Offset printers use this effect for use most of the time intentionally. Glossier cards are much likely to cause accidental touches to other cards as they do not dry quickly and usually require different ink. Aqueous coatings usually do not cause any gloss but prolong the life cycle of business card. Cards are also designed with bleeding lines to extend them beyond the printing border which ensures that there is no white spot left in the corners on cutting the card to size. Bleeds are typically extended to a quarter inch more than the printing area in all sides. A new trend in business cards is the use of different materials to print on. Plastic of various kinds is the most common alternative choice as it has a much longer lifecycle than paper based cards. Clear or translucent plastic cards are commonly coming into use these days. Some people go to the extent of using rubberized cards, metals and real wood for base material. The use of magnetic material is also common in new exclusive type of business cards. These cards are usually made in a similar size to normal business cards unless it is physically very difficult to do.
